Owner description: The Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, displaying, and interpreting artifacts, antiques, books, documents, photographs, and oral history relative to the History of Diving. We tell the international story of man's attempts to explore, understand, and venture under the sea. We also celebrate the special role that South Florida and the Florida Keys played in this story. The Florida Keys History of Diving Museum is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational institution focused on the Story of Man's Quest to Explore Under the Sea. The majority of the Museum's artifacts have been provided through the generous support of its founders, Drs. Joe and Sally Bauer, who hold one of the largest collection of historic diving equipment and research documents in the world.

“Great activity, even for sunny day”

This was a gem of a little museum, with great curation and a scavenger hunt for kids. There are hands-on exhibits and lots of generally cool info for everyone. It was a hit will all our kids, ages 7, 12 and 14, as well as with the parents. There is also a library for anyone who wants to do specific research, and the staff was knowledgable.

“Don't let the looks fool you!”

My wife and daughter visited this place while my son and I were charter fishing. The activities to keep a young persons interest were great. she came home telling us all about it. Highly reccomended on a blustery or cold day when you want to get out of the sun/weather.

“Excellent!!!”

A great museum! A must see for any divers or even nondivers. Learned so much about the history of diving. Very interesting and very well put together exhibits. A huge collection of vintage diving helmets, bells, original scuba equipment, and many hands on exhibits. Very well educated and informative staff. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting the Keys!

“Interesting and educational”

My 11 year old son and I went and both enjoyed it. I've been driving for more than 12 years but this place taught me a lot about the history of man's quest to get and stay under water. The staff was helpful and friendly and the exhibits well done.
