“A little touch of paradise in paradise”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Came upon Casa Thorn here at Trip advisor and we are so glad we did. My wife and I spent two wonderful days here in the Bombay room, a clean nicely decorated room with a comfortable Queen bed, fridge, A-C, and best of all our private nook in a beautiful green garden outside our door.

Thorn is an interesting woman, a world traveller who has collected artifacts from her worldly trips. You will see ceramic camels, stone frogs, lanterns, bird houses, adorning the entire B&B. Bo who services the B&B and prepares delicious breakfasts, is very personable without being intrusive and on top of that makes a mean omelette served in your own private garden nook.

For those who complained about the bathroom being a couple steps outside the room...all I can say is "get a life". It's a B&B for goodness sake! It's clean, well maintained and yes in B&Bs you share such facilities.

We met some great folks on either side of us, one couple from Germany the other a retired couple from Mass. That's one of the great things about staying in a B&B meeting folks from all over.

For those who enjoy a quaint, lovely and quiet garden like atmosphere with character to spare try this little piece of paradise. You will love it.

Room Tip: Rooms vary by price. The larger better appointed rooms are a bit more . We stayed in the Bombay rom...

My husband and I spent two nights at Casa Thorn during our first trip to the Keys. We drove up, saw a large stone camel complete with santa hat, and knew we had booked a great place. Casa Thorn is very charming and quaint. There are only 5 rooms or so, so you really do feel like you've rented a home on Islamorada. All of the staff we encountered were wonderful! Breakfast is served on your private patio and was great each morning and Bo was incredibly friendly without being intrusive. We stayed in the Malaysia room, which had a huge bed, nice kitchen and large bathroom. You could spent hours just looking at the items that Casa Thorn has no doubt collected over the years. From stone camels to masks to turtles to flowers, etc., it really is a charming place. We'd highly recommend it, especially given the great price. Dogs are welcome, so if you are not a dog lover, just know that you will encounter some from time to time. Also, if you aren't a fan of the ecclectic, then this may not be the place for you. We loved the character, so it was perfect for us!

Room Tip: The Malaysia room was great! Large bed, private bath and nice economy kitchen.

My wife and I went to Islamorada for a quick get away and had a really nice time at this unique B & B. The Secret Garden was seculed and charming. We met Mrs. Thorn, who has been running the five roome since 1980. Bo served excellent French toast and pancakes, along with fresh orange juice and excellent coffee. He also gave us a pass to allow us into a local park for free. We did miss our king sized bed (they have a double) and that took the rating down a star.

We went to Islamorada for a quick getaway and found this lovely B&B. Artistic charm is its best quality; it's an aesthetic feast. It also offers a secluded, peaceful setting with an attentive and welcoming staff. Dogs are welcome, and the price is very affordable. Highly recommend, as well as the Marker 88 restaurant.

A special property filed with character. Our room was very charming and romantic with an Indian feeling and high ceilings. Each room has it's own little table and chairs outside in the artistic garden, where a delicious breakfast is served in the morning. The owner and everyone we encountered were very warm and very helpful.

It's hard to say anything critical in light of the many positives but I should mention that there was some noise from a pump or water heater or? which came to my attention as I was trying to fall asleep. The shower in the shared bath is a wee bit funky but again, in light of the many positives, it didn't matter. There is wi-fi, but only by the pool.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back of the property, while truly very charming, may have more exposure to some noi...

We came down to the Keys for the night and were very surprised to experience the magic that is Casa Thorn. These web photos cannot do this hideaway justice as the different themed rooms lend such a coziness & warmth. The October weather was perfect for being in courtyard. Thorn and her staff were more than courteous and friendly. I wish we could have stayed longer. Looking forward to spending more than one night here!!

Room Tip: If available, opt for the larger rooms!

We were looking for a B&B in our Florida-Guide Iwanowski's.
The Casa Thorn seemed to us like a secret garden, with all those special figueres lurking at you of every corner of the garden.
Its our first US-Trip and our first B&B at all. We had a great time in Florida, thought this B&B captivated us with a special charm.
The rooms are very stylish and capacious, the sanitaries ok. Staff ist really nice and we'd liked to talk to Ms. Thorn about her many journeys she did in her earlier days, as it is visible all around. The recommended Marker 88 was a wonderfull restaurant with excellent food and an even better view to the see.
Thanks a lot for your hospitality. It was an honor to spend a night in your house.

Room Tip: knock and enter
