Mon - 3/10/14 - Have stopped here reveal times on our way in/out of the Keys. Lovely setting and used to be good food and service. Apparently new ownership has decided to kill the vibe. No one greeted us when we arrived (apparently because they changed the former entrance pattern) so we looked around and seated ourselves. After some inquiry via a busboy a hostess approached and gave us menus. It had to be at least 5 minutes before a waiter appeared to take a drink order. The "full bar" doesn't carry Absolute or Kettle One top shelf vodkas (the only place on the Keys that doesn't from our experience) but they will sell you a $39, 2nd tier overpriced NY Strip! So we ordered a different vodka martini which showed up in a rocks/cocktail glass with the wrong fruit. When I asked if the martini could be served in a martini glass the waiter said they don't have them?! Huh? The waiter was never timely although he was cordial and clearly working hard so I can only conclude the staffing is short. The rest of the meal was OK but overpriced when compared to other Keyes locations (that have as good or better food).
We decided to share our observations with the manager who immediately got defensive and repeatedly took a "there is nothing I can do stance". He offered that the owner has some deal with the liquor provider … one which apparently benefits him but restricts the customers options (there's a "customer first" operating principal for you)! Apparently the owner doesn't get that concept or doesn't care…..won't go back….. a Keyes charm that has been ruined.
