“Great outdoor space, don't expect any hotel services”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

Stayed in room 18 which felt a bit like a garage conversion! Fixtures and fittings a little dated and big for the room, included a microwave but no cutlery or crockery (only 2 plastic cups) so a bit useless. Good fridge though. Air con and road a bit noisy. The other rooms looked really nice and all have some sort of outdoor space and bbq. The pool and man made beach area is really nice and a great place to chill out. Plenty of beds, chairs and hammocks to relax in. It is more of a motel than hotel and there are no services at all on site, not even maid service so be prepared to make your own bed. Free wifi which is great and plenty of parking.

Overall a nice place to relax as for us the outside space was better than in.

All people have different tastes and this is the first time i have experienced someone not liking the decor in this room. We have 12 kitchen units and 6 non-kitchen units. This guest choose a non-kitchen unit to stay in . We do not provide cutlery or crockery in non-kitchen units. We provide daily housekeeping service but do not change the beds daily ( every other day ) .

This was a wonderful find in The Keys! The location was great with restaurants & bars within walking distance. Our room was ocean front with our own deck, large comfy bed, fun beachy decor, friendly & helpful owner/operator,,,,,
Would recommend this place highly, but call direct for booking! Outside services charge too much$$$

After fleeing the cold & snow of NJ, we were thrilled when we pulled into the Drop Anchor. From the vibrant, tropical colors of the buildings to the island themed rooms it was a winner. Our room featured two very comfortable queen beds and a squeaky clean kitchen & bathroom. Our balcony had a great ocean view with comfortable wicker furniture.

The property is very clean & well maintained. When we arrived on a Sunday, the beach had been freshly raked. A sparkling swimming pool, tiki huts, lounge chairs and comfy hammocks are all located on the oceanfront. There are also BBQ grills available and a boat ramp on site. As with most areas in the Keys, there is not a sandy beach, but we were happy swimming in the heated pool. The resort itself was very quiet & relaxing, although it is possible to hear the highway. This was not a problem in our room because the hum of the AC masked the sound. On our last day after checking out we asked if we could spend a few more hours at the pool. No problem, and we were also offered the use of a restroom to freshen up before heading out.

The only issue we experienced was spotty WiFi. The manager said they were having trouble & working to resolve the issue. He also offered to set us up with a direct connection in the lobby. We decided not to take him up on his offer since the whole point of our stay was to "get away from it all!" If you're looking for an "Old Florida" resort that's been impeccably maintained, this is the place for you. So much more charming than a chain! If you Drop Anchor here for your next vacation, you won't be disappointed!

Loved staying here. Stayed in #5 what a view. Very clean. Affordable. If your looking for a fancy place this is not for you. My family loved it. Nice hammocks. Not a great place to swim. No food options on premises. Overall awesome experience.

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend in the Keys. We had a wonderful two nights at the Drop Anchor. The ocean front room was very clean and had a small kitchen and sitting area with a sliding glass door opening right onto the sand. We spent most of our time here laying under the palm trees and weren't bothered by anyone. What a great trip. We are already thinking about next year!! Thank you Drop Anchor for a wonderful weekend of R&R.

We stayed at this quaint 1950ish motel in Islamorada, FL for two nights and were very happy with our choice . We were in unit 18, a smaller room tucked at the back, closer to the highway. I liked the Caribbean themed decor and the spaciousness of the room. The highway noise was a bit bothersome. but it quiets down during the night. The grounds are immaculately maintained and we had some wonderful moments sitting serenely on the beach chairs looking out onto the ocean.
Will definitely come back!

This is a great find. Our room was everything we expected we had seen it on the webcam. The staff were helpful and you can just tell they take pride in their work and resort. We loved it and would fully recommend it. We stayed in the smallest room there was only the two of us, some of the larger ocean rooms looked amazing.
Keep up the good work guys and thank you
