“Great Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2008

Just returned from the Pines and Palms, was stayed there 6 nights for my honeymoon. Was very pleased with my stay there. Everything on there website is just as it is presented. Stayed in room 7 which is an oceanfront room. Rooms are decent size(very clean) with a Queen bed, sleeper sofa and mini kitchen. Really the only downfall to the room was the tiny bathroom but not a major deal.

The staff was all very, very nice. Had a payment problem due to debit card limits and they were very nice about letting me pay my balance in intervals. They give you a restaurant sheet with there opinions at check in and they were dead on with there suggestions. Front desk employees were very friendly and were glad to answer any and all questions. Room service was great and supplied fresh towels daily. Was nice to come back to a refreshed room everyday.

As for the property itself, it was very nice and clean with excellent views. They had two nice fishing piers to went out into the ocean with a boat ramp also. Very nice oceanfront heated swimming pool with a nice barbecue and little pavilion at the pool.

My overall experience at this resort was excellent. This was my first time in the keys and if i ever return it will be to the Pines and Palms. And once again i cant comment enough on how friendly and nice the staff was.

Stayed for 3 nights it a great place to stay and enjoy the Florida sun.
We stayed in number 9 which has fantastic views of the ocean, its got a small kitchen with a good sized fridge/ freezer, cooker and microwave and a dining/ siting area with a TV.
The room was very clean and comfortable but the bathroom is a little small. It also has a small porch/ out side siting area.
The staff are extremely helpfull and very friendly.
Their are several restraunts within walking distance and when you check in you are given a list of local restraunts which tell you how far away they are, its a great idea and I don't know why more places don't do it.
All told its a good clean, tidy, friendly place to stay and we will be going back again the next time we are in the Keys.

Stayed here just one night in the lowest-rate room - a 1 bedroom w/LR and kitchen. Clean and comfortable. Bathroom very small but wasn't a problem for us - might be for someone 6'+. AC worked well, but was noisy. Not enough to keep us awake, but if you're a light sleeper, this could be an issue.

Staff was very nice and helpful - giving us restaurant reccomendations right when we checked in.

Would be nice for 1-2 days of extreme relaxation... nothing to do but swim in the pool and read on your balcony or on the dock and eat at local restaurants. All in all, a nice place to stay.

  • Liked — Great value on room.
  • Disliked — AC noisy.

Lets start with the people. I never got the name of the people who were there, but they were all really nice. I liked them. They will give you a list of restaurants that is pretty good.

The room isn't NEW. It's actually pretty old. The whole place is. But it's very clean. The bed very comfortable. I liked the place a lot.

I can't imagine spending more than a couple of days there unless I had kids (nice little pool/beach) or was just sitting and reading.

I made a huge mistake in not going from there to John Pennekamp. It's close and worth the trip.

I'm a fan and I'd go back for a day or so.

  • Liked — Clean, comfy and a little beach
  • Disliked — I didn't find a lot to do right around it.

Just came back from a weekend at Pines and Palms. It was just delightful, right on the beach, lovely pool, adorable little cottages.
Very clean and tidy, '50's style with great updates. Pool and grounds were immaculate, staff more than helpful. Lots of great restaurants very close by. Our unit had a full kitchen which was more than adequate for cooking if you prefer. We will go back again. We saw mostly couples ther, it was very quite the perfect place for a romatic getaway or a sporty weekend.

The Good:
Smelled very clean when we arrived, cabins very charming and private. Quiet, even by pool (windows closed). Nice touches like vase of cut bougainvillea flowers on table, lotion and shampoo provided. AC works GREAT! Ice cream man truck visits in the afternoon (12-year-old loved it!). Excellent location, close to restaurants and diving. Private dock, kayaks available. They also provide grills and bikes. Walking distance to Midway Cafe (best coffee and breakfast foods). Newspaper every morning. Plenty of towels. Only guests allowed on property and in the pool or on the dock. Not crowded at ALL. Will be back next year!

The Bad:
Ants. They got worse every day. Not so bad that they were in the bed or clothes, but from 2 or 3 at the sinks to a trail across the floor by the 2nd day.
I see hotels in the Keys 1 step above camping and having to wear shoes in an outdoor shower. I was not disappointed. Tiles in bathroom cracked, chipped. Grout missing and discolored. Mold in corners, probably wet underneath causing the ants. This was better and cleaner than the Hampton Inn but still...shudder...
With 3 people, hard to find places to hang bath towels, pool towels, and diving gear to dry. Bathroom too small with not enough towel racks.
Little lax on the housekeeping. Hate coming back to a hotel after a morning and an afternoon dive (3:30 in the afternoon) and room still not made up and no clean towels. A good daily mopping would have controlled the ants better too.

We love this resort. If you want to get away and relax this is the place. The room was very clean, the bed very cozy and comfortable. The employees could not have been nicer. This is not a hustle, bustle hotel with tons of people. It is very low key. You can fish, kayak, swim, snorkel or just read on the beach. My husband loved the hammock. The restaurants around the resort are great. Thanks Jim and Sara for a wonderful spot to relax. We will be back.
