We stayed last week at Pines and Palms for 4 nights and had extremely relaxing and enjoyable time. The amazing thing about the Keys, is the preponderance of 'Mom and Pop' hotels and resorts. Pines and Palms exemplifies the best of that genre. Keep in mind these are not luxury hotels, but Pines and Palms was one of the nicest we saw.
We checked in after hours and Jim was extended an upgrade to me and my wife and it was greatly appreciate. Seeing that it was dark when we checked in, we were in for a glorious surprise when we awoke. Our ocean view cottage room was so close to the beautiful sea.
We liked having the small kitchen available so that we could keep make our breakfast, lunch and adult beverage. While there were a number of people staying at the hotel, my wife often had pool to herself and the chairs on docks almost always available.
I loved kayaking out on the ocean right in front of hotel. My only wish is that they would be included in room rate and that the hardworking staff did not put away while I was taking a break.
Enjoyed sunsets at Morada Bay and Islamorada Fish Co. Stay after dark and enjoy the musicians and cool vibe of both places. Lunch at Hungry Tarpon was excellent.
We would certainly stay at Pines and Palms again

My daughter and I spent five nights here in April. Clean rooms, daily maid service, manicured grounds, quiet, close to everything and nice owners and staff. This resort has retained a touch of "old Florida" that is charming. A resident cat will visit as wanted and the extended docks with chairs on them are a nice touch. Many prefer to sit around the freshwater pool and Tiki bar but we just wanted to sit on the beach chairs and dock and read while there. There seems to be no good, from-the-shore, snorkeling anywhere in the area. Ask Jim the owner for his recommendation sheet of restaurants.

Stayed here on a business trip. I would definitely come back with family -- rooms are super clean. its older, and definitely more the Florida experience but quiet, the staff could not have been nicer, the efficiency set up was great and really, very clean. Nearby the midway cafe was a great spot for breakfast in the morning. the beach was wonderful at night and the Morada (?) restaurant a mile or so up the road on the recommended list was awesome for drinks and dinner to watch the sunset. I recommend this hotel highly

Room Tip: All are okay. elevated ones were quieter

Another very enjoyable holiday at Pines and Palms. This marked our 6 th stay there. We socialized with some other regular clients and had just a super time. The heated pool is to die for and the addition of a Tiki bar at poolside was a great idea. There are lots of good eating places a stones throw away or you can just throw the steaks on a BBQ provided by the resort. We have already booked for next year! Jim, the owner, and Ana,the manger are just a mountain of info on everything from fishing, eating or local entertainment.

Myself, my husbands, and my two children stayed at Pines and Palms for three days during our tour of the Keys. What a treat! The oceanview suites were just what we were looking for! A very quaint and intimate place. I still remember the fresh, clean smell of the white linens. The pool and grounds were beautiful as well. We will definitely be back to Pines and Palms and Islamorada, our favorite island in the Keys by far!

We worked our way up from Keywest and agreed to stay in Islamorada for one day before we returned. What a great contrast to the madness of Keywest. Having the windows open on the ocean from great little cottage was a dream and the place was super clean. The owner Jim runs a very clean shop. I couldn't help but comment how the sheets smelled better that the Hilton Resort in Keywest. The Midway cafe is a block away (fantastic service and food). You will not be dissappointed by the food and sunset at Morada Bay Beach Cafe.. http://www.moradabay-restaurant.com/. Great price, great view. Will surely be back.

We spent a couple of days around New Year's at the Pines and Palms on our two week trip through southern Florida. When I started looking for accomodation, I actually tried to find a place further south, closer to Key West. But this place turned out to be very good - Islamorada also has some very good restaurants with fantastic sea food... :))
We travelled together with our three year-old son and I read loads of reviews to find a place which suits us all.
We stayed in one of the oceanfront cottages (even though it wasn't a 100% oceanfront...). The cottage was very clean, with a comfy king bed, a pullout sofa (where our son slept), a kitchen area (huge fridge, freezer, microwave, stove, kitchen utensils), a TV, table, chairs,... The room was not small but after we pulled out the couch it got really cramped - we also had quite a lot of luggage. The bathroom (w/ shower) was tiny, but totally ok for a couple of days. The outdoor area is equipped with a table and chairs.
It was unusually cold the first couple of days - the room was VERY cold, without real radiators - only a hot-air-blowing thing (don' know what they're called), which wasn't sufficient.
Everything was superclean and the stuff was very helpful. The pool is heated and clean. It was very windy when we were there, so we only had quick dips. There's a coin-operated washer & drier, too. The area is nice with lots of restaurants. The Midway Cafe is very close (walking distance) and serves great coffee, breakfast and lunch stuff.
the hotel beach is neat but not made for playing in the sand. More for enjoing the sun on a lounger, reading a book (which is my favourite, anyway). From there and from the jetty you can see lots of fish and even more pelicans.
The hotel has free Wifi and Weber grills to use!
We went to Long Key State Park for a day at the beach + walk through mangroves, to Key West and to Teatre of the Sea (it's a 5 min drive) for day trips.

We had a good time at this relaxing place!
