“Great place to warm up”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2011

We returned from the Islander Resort with heavy hearts. What a great place. It's nothing fancy but recently renovated and our ktichenette - king bed room was well stocked with anything we would need. Water pressure in the shower was a little low and that is my only complaint.

The continental breakfast was well stocked too with quite an assortment to choose from. The coffee is a little weak but this is not Starbucks. Both pools were very nice and clean. the hot tub was very warm.

Gave it a go on the fishing pier and caught some small fish but a fella next to me hooked some kind of sand shark and you could easily see some big tarpon and baracuda just looking over the side. The water is so clear here.

We didn't try the snorkling on their beach because a tide of man of war Jelly fish had come in and they do not make good swimming buddies.

We went to the Tiki Bar/Restaurant 2'xs and had great service, drinks and food. A must try is the fried lobster bites and the tuna burger. I dream about these dishes.

As we were leaving Islamorada, we stopped and looked around at a couple of the hotels we had considered before choosing the islander. Cheeca Lodge and Chesapeake.were pretty but the Islander has a lot less rooms/people and much more Beach and 2 pools and privacy. Both of them have lots of rooms and people cramed into small but lovely landscapes.

You won't go wrong with Islander.

We just returned from our 9 day vacation and already booked for next year. This resort is one of the best we've stayed at. It is not only beautiful and accommodating, but the entire staff made you feel as you've known them forever. The Tiki bar restaurant serves excellent food. The grounds are breathtaking as is the view of the ocean. The rooms are all recently renovated and all have a full kitchen with a variety of beds and each also has a large, screened patio. You won't be disappointed at this location. Honestly, we can't begin to say enough about The Islander as it was that good!

We spent a long weekend at Islander Resort for some respite from Northeast snow. The views were beautiful. While the beach was nice and roomy it's not really a beach - be sure you wear shoes/sandals, there's no sand...but we knew that before arrival.
The efficiency was nice and well outfitted. We had a small problem with the shower which was immediately addressed. There was lots of staff around and all were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was great with lots of choices. With Islamorada only 90 minutes from Miami Airport, it's easy to reach. We'd happily return to Islander Resort in the future.

What a beautiful spot. We had a room by the pool and could see the ocean from our window. Beautiful views and great set up. Lovely pools with a backdrop off the ocean. Very bright, clean rooms - not a 5 star but much better because you can walk out of your room and be at the pool or outside - no elevators. Nice Tiki bar and watersports set up. We loved it. Staff are great. Water pressure in showers is just okay and double beds, not queens - but who cares. Close to fabulous restaurants and other venues. We'll be back. Hot tub was not really that warm and broke down the last day. Who cares about things like that with such lovely view and setting!!!

I had a great stay at this resort! They had their own beach and poolside bar...what more do you need? I loved the screened-in porches to enjoy the warm breeze, and not the bugs! The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were perfect!

Having recently returned from Afghanistan and in need of some R & R, where do I begin. We arrived one day early. Graciously greeted at the front desk by David with a no problem attitude. After arranging for an upgraded room the price was lowered from my original booking. We sat on our screened in porch, drank tea and coffee, ate meals and simply relaxed. Ocean water was a little cool but a light wet suit took care of that. For a bit more action we swam in the heated pool with a gentle incline for our two year old to enter and enjoy. Beach music playing in the background. Had drinks at the Tiki bar and a GREAT meal in the restaurant. Mike our waiter, all but fell over himself to ensure our food, drinks and service were first class. Ate at a couple of local restaurants but no need to leave the resort. Mornings the most spectacular sunrises with very peaceful sunset; most were enjoyed from the nearby hammock. Evenings were tranquil and like a dream. For twenty years I have gone down to the lower Keys. Not anymore. The Islander Resort is everything and more that the older Keys were. We have already booked for a return trip next year.

Love the Pools and hot tub area. Gorgeous views. The Blue Water Tiki Bar is awesome and staff very friendly!! We love Islamorada and this place is highly recommended to enjoy the awesome Florida Keys! Only complaint is the toilet had an issue and would not fill back up and you had to jiggle the handle every time. The room was great and an ocean view.
