My brand new husband and I had the most magical weekend thanks to the friendly staff at the postcard inn, and the beautiful backdrop of the turquoise water and sunny skies. A special shootout to Joe, the manager that helped us upon checking in and out, Wendy who made sure our special day went smoothly, and Kim, who made sure out favorite drink was in hand during our reception. If you are looking to book a wedding the all of youth friends and family are sure to enjoy look no further than the postcard inn!

Stayed in prison block 300, room not very clean and we shared it with cockroaches each night. Bathroom needed complete overhaul as bath had been painted and was peeling. What a shame as location is gorgeous, even if you can't use the beach as it's so full of seaweed. Staff were really great, though some of the guests round the pool were scary! A complete refurb would make this resort a fab place to stay as it's a perfect Keys location.

Room Tip: Avoid cell blocks at side of motel

We just got married last month and headed down to the Keys to celebrate! Our first stop was Postcard Inn. I've been to the bars outside many times before but had never stayed there. It was great! Great customer service. Good ocean view, and our room was cool. It had a nautical theme to it. The nice thing about this hotel is that you have some great restaurants and bars nearby, and the scuba shop is located basically on the same property. I would highly recommend staying here, especially if you plan on diving at Islamorada Dive Center.

As Miami natives, my husband, friends, and I have all visited Holiday Isle dozens of times over the years. So when it came time to celebrate a big birthday in our group, we decided to give the "new" Postcard Inn a try. We were VERY VERY pleased with the entire experience.

1. ROOMS: The building itself is not new, but all the rooms have been SUBSTANTIALLY upgraded in terms of decor and finishes. It has gone from drab and "keys-ey cheesy" to "barefoot contemporary beach chic." This is not only a big step forward for this specific resort, but a very welcome difference from what you'll find at the majority of Florida Keys hotels/motels. Bed was VERY comfortable, as were the pillows, and the black-out curtains gave us some of the best sleep we've had in a Keys hotel.
***BONUS: We were impressed to find DirecTV programming with premium channels included with our room - not at all typical in the keys. We also found the free wi-fi to be reliable and of very good speed (we streamed music without interruption or problem). Free mini fridge was nice and cold. Water from faucet and in shower was filtered, and free from the chlorine smell and metallic taste usual in other keys properties
***NEEDS WORK: Clearly, the renovation budget did not fully extend to the bathrooms. While clean and tidy, the tub was obviously from the original resort and did not reflect the same level of renovation used in the room's vanity area and other furnishings. As well, the shower head, faucets, fixtures suffered from this problem. A bit of a let down considering how nice everything else was, but certainly not a tragedy by any means.

2.RESORT GROUNDS: This has also been QUITE IMPROVED from what it used to be. The restaurants and bars are all nicely connected by a paved path, resort guest-only areas are clearly secluded from main/local/transient traffic, and the beach and pool areas are kept very neat and tidy (we saw staff raking the sand at 7 am on Saturday morning). The main resort pool has been redone/resurfaced, though it still has older style beach chaises and older surrounding railing. However, the staff is attentive and friendly and we were pleased by the addition of a fresh grill menu served poolside (again - new to this resort and NOT a given in the Keys).
****BONUS: The property now includes/is connected to RumRunners - so besides more restaurants/nightlife choices, there's now a second pool besides the main oceanfront pool.
****NEEDS WORK: The big minus we had to give here was for the quality of the pool towels - obviously old and thin, not soft and fluffy... hopefully this is on the "to do" list for the future. Just bring your own if you're picky about such things - the resort doesn't "Require" you to use their towels.

3. MARINA: The sandbar off Holiday Isle is one of the MUST-DO experiences for anyone visiting the Keys. It requires a boat, of course, but it's one of the main reasons we come back to this property (besides the "world famous tiki bar"). If you are a boater, you'll find DJ and the marina staff to be very professional and helpful. We called ahead and were assigned a slip with full power/water and resort privileges. They've also renovated this area to include new picnic tables and oceanfront fire pits on nice grassy lawns. A BIG BIG enhancement here. At $3 per foot, this was a true value.

4. DINING: Besides the typical raw bar and fish-n-chips type of food, Postcard Inn now is home to a Shula's restaurant. This is not the famous steakhouse, but the more casual dining version of the same restaurant family. We enjoyed the burger immensely, and the breakfast buffet was honestly among the best we've had in terms of quality (eggs weren't runny, fruit was fresh, coffee was good, and they even had eggs benedict with perfect runny centers as part of the buffet). For $14 - a definite win. Other dining locations, you can't go wrong with fresh fish in the keys, and this was no exception.

5. STAFF: Of all the upgrades, I'd have to say the management of Postcard Inn is probably the most notable of all the improvements. Attentive, friendly, professional, "yes I can help you" attitudes, and well trained are all characteristics we found all staff members to have. Joyce in reservations was particularly helpful as were the pool and bar wait staff.

Room Tip: At $250-$350 per night, Postcard Inn is one of the more expensive options in the Keys. What you'...

OK, I booked this through one of those sites that sends "travel deals" to your inbox. So, buyer beware. I arrived on a weekend - place was crowded, noisy and trashed up a bit. Rooms are small and comfort is lacking - not enough drawer space, little room to move around, no place to put anything out, bathroom outdated, etc. Food at the raw bar was fried frozen fish and the famous rum runner comes out of a slushy ice machine. Pluses: it was clean, there was a fridge and the balcony area was comfortable. During the week, it quieted down and the exterior guest areas were tidied up. Problem was, it rained for 2 days, so couldn't enjoy the property's amenities. Don't regret going to the keys (most beautiful place in FL) but for $30 more per night, I could have stayed 2 miles down U.S. 1 at a four star resort.

Room Tip: Find another place to stay.

Assigned a room in the 300 building, the room was average but clean. upon entering the bathroom the look-a-like marble behing the door was shattered where someone had slammed the door. the bathtub need a makeover as there are knicks and mold colored caulk. The sink plug was laying on side of the sink. The ice machine was out of order for this buliding as well. The hallway leading to the rooms was musky and smelled of cleaners. We asked for a transfer or refund and were assigned a beach front in 200 building.
room there was overall much cleaner but the tub also needed a makeover and the mattress in that room sunk in on both sides as if you were laying in a recliner. At that point we didnt want to switch rooms again and dealt with it.
the grounds at this place are amazing and I would see a ground crew of at least 6 to 8 people outside making it beautiful every morning.
I just wish they took pride in the rooms as well as they do the grounds. I kept on looking around the corner to see if the crew from Hotel Impossible would be arriving anytime soon.
