My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend during the last weekend in October. The hotel and beach were quiet because of the off season and from the previous days when Hurricane Sandy came through. The front desk staff was kind and cheerful. The room (we stayed in an ocean front room - totally worth the extra money) was tastefully decorated with an ocean theme and was very clean. The bars/restaurants on site where perfect for a low key breakfast/lunch and happy hour drinks. We will certainly be coming back to the Postcard Inn!

Room Tip: Ocean front room a must on a higher floor - in building one or two. Beautiful views!

Greeting Rebecca G, We thank you and your husband for staying with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the Caribbean and in the NorthEast who were most affected by Sandy. We appreciate you taking the time to post the nice review. Glad you guys are in Miami so you can pop down frequently - we hope! Cheers, Jason

First and foremost, the rooms are relatively nice and for the most part clean. Now on to the details that you will not see in the advertisements. The management team has overlooked the smallest of details that matter to those people on vacation. Ants in the "rooms", we had several rooms and each one had the same issue. The maintenance staff, set aside JR, are not at all informed on how to fix the most basic of issues. We had problems with the cable, remotes and the insect problem. It was actually sad to have a maintenance guy/gal show up and you could tell that they had no idea what they were doing and it was obvious that they had not been trained to deal with the issues to begin with. That was almost comical in all seriousness.

I had a chance to speak with some of the room staff and they were not happy, ill compensated (yes I asked as that speaks volumes to the trickle down quality of service) and one lady told me that they were treated as second-class citizens and talked down to by the mgmnt team. I could tell that she was sincere and I felt for her. The room staff were excellent in dealing with what they could.

This place has such potential, and I mean that. If the management team would focus on the details and staff I can see this place being the best in the area.

On principal alone, outlined above, I do not plan on staying here again. I will simply move further south and stay somewhere that focuses on customer service being number one and taking care of their staff in a proper way.

PCI, no need for a member of your team to respond to this email. Damage is already done at this point.

Room Tip: There are several places a few miles south that will be a better value. This is not a family vacatio...

Dear WKU-Wanderer, Thanks for staying with us during your recent trip to the Florida Keys. I'm extremely disappointed by the perception you have of our resort, particularly if it was created by experiences interacting with a staff member. Our housekeeping team (along with all of our team members) is the heart and soul of our resort. The majority of our housekeeping staff members have been with our resort for over a decade, and exceed industry average compensation. Additionally they are assigned to clean less rooms than the industry standard per shift. Our houskeeping manager is extremely hands on in supporting the team, particularly on busy weekends. They have a challening job day in and day out and we are always looking for ways to make their jobs easier. Please accept my apologies for the t.v. issues. We just switched from cable to Direct TV and it's possible the issue that was in your room had simply not been encountered before. Thank you for the kudo's for JR and feel free to contact me directly if I can ever be of service. Best Regards, Jason

This is the NEW Holiday Isle. Yes, the 80's & 90's were hot then the property started getting trashy and really going downhill. It has a new feel in the same great spot so don't miss out on this super location, great staff, terrific pool and beach (they don't charge for pool and beach loungers anymore) great drinks and a perfect spot. Fishing, snorkeling, sun and party fun. (I do miss the old reggae shack though.)

We booked this with a Living Social coupon, wish we would have gotten more days. We arrived a couple of hours before check in and took a chance. Not only did the very nice woman check us in, she gave us a ocean front upgrade which we loved. The rooms were clean, not sure how with all the sand from the great beach just steps away and fairly newly remodeled. There is something for everyone at this resort from sunbathing to swimming in the ocean or pool, jet ski, kayak, small sailboat rentals. Charter boats right there or rent your own boat for the day. The island is about 2 hrs from Key West ( 45 miles an hr is why) We are saving to go back as we speak! Thanks for a great time

Room Tip: Waterfront is the way to go

We booked this hotel through Priceline after a recommendation from a family member. When we arrived an hour early our room wasn't ready so we went to eat lunch at the raw bar onsite(don't recommend). When I went back to the lobby, Tony offered us a free oceanfront upgrade. We were only planning on staying one night, but Tony continued to make us feel so welcome we booked 2 more nights. The property is beautiful, very serene. We loved the pool on the ocean and also enjoyed snorkeling along the rocks in the ocean. Even though it rained our last night, we found plenty to do. The arcade games took us back to our teen years, which brought up fun conversations with our kids. There were also a wide selection of board games which we played in the lobby for a couple of hours. The lobby is a fun, inviting place with comfy sofas to sip on coffee and lemonade offered for free throughout the day. We also enjoyed the egg shaped chairs by the ping pong table. There was plenty to do for the whole family and we were able to spend so much quality time together. The ocean is gorgeous and this is a child friendly part of the Keys. The only down side of our stay was the housekeeping staff (but only the ones for our building). The staff over by the coin laundry were very pleasant and helpful. The staff from our building made it clear that they weren't pleased about cleaning the rooms and never restocked our toiletries. This did not take away from our stay though. We will be back next year, but we will be staying for a whole week. Thanks Tony and the rest of the reception crew for helping us create lasting memories.

My wife and I stayed at the Postcard Inn for 4 nights from October 19 to October 23 of this year. So did about 40 of our friends and relatives. The main purpose of our trip was to attend our daughter's wedding which was held at the resort. The wedding went splendidly but your not reading this review to hear about how beautiful our daughter looked or how handsome her husband is.

We knew in advance that the Postcard Inn was not a 4-5 star resort. However I must admit that the hotel property was a very pleasant surprise. It is a compact yet spacious facility with numerous buildings containing a wide variety of lodging and related resort facilities.

Our room, number 228, was located in a three story walk-up building facing the Atlantic Ocean and overlooking one of the resort's man made beaches. The room was clean and comfortable with a large balcony with a great view. I would estimate that the particular room we had was approximately 400 square feet in size. It contained two queen beds, a dresser, a small table and two chairs, a large flat screen TV and a clever recessed cushioned seating area which could serve as a sofa. The bathroom was a decent size with a bath/shower and most importantly plenty of hot water supply. There was an additional sink/vanity area just outside the bathroom as well as a closet for hanging clothes. The closet also contained a small safe.

One note of caution when it comes to the rooms at The Postcard Inn. There are numerous room configurations, size and amenities to be had at the property. When booking a room make sure you are well aware of exactly what you are getting for your money. The Postcard Inn has a website that describes many, but not all, of the room types and their location. There are a number of buildings that contain "motel" types of rooms which are quite small. That's not necessarily bad but make sure that's what you want.

Back to a description of the resort. Fishing, fish and anything associated with piscatorial endeavors are the decorative theme at the property so expect a little overkill in that arena.

The grounds, pools and beach areas at the Postcard Inn are nicely kept and well groomed. The beaches are man made and are a compressed mixture of sand, finely ground gravel and ground shell material so don't expect a silky soft beach. There are several very attractive small coves carved into the beach which gently slope into the sea. A mermaid statue sitting atop rocks nicely accents one of these coves. A few concrete step access points will also deposit you into the ocean. The ocean area delineated for swimming is roped off so that you don't wander into the path of the boats, jet skis, kayaks etc. just off shore. Lots of fish swimming around within the roped off area. While we were at the resort it was visited by several dolphin and what appeared to be an inquisitive manatee.

The resort also has two pools. The main pool sits right at the ocean's edge and there is smaller pool hidden in the middle of the resort. Beach chairs and umbrellas seem to be plentiful both at the pools and on the beaches themselves.

Food and drink (with a heavy emphasis on the drink portion) can be found at numerous sites at the Postcard Inn complex. The somewhat famous Tiki Bar is located on the resort property along with several other inebreation facilities. All in good fun! The food portion at the resort may be found in several places. Breakfast, lunch and dinner may be had at The Raw Bar which overlooks the ocean and the marina. It's not fancy but the food is decent and the prices wont shock you. There is also a Shula's Hamburger restaurant on site. there too it's not terribly fancy but neither are the food prices.

Finally, we can't say enough about the staff at the Postcard Inn. They are all good folks. They were five star ! Enough to make a good place to stay all the better. Permit me one further personal indulgence before ending this review. A special mention about Maggie Goller the event planner/coordinator at the Postcard Inn. Maggie you are terrific and helped make our daughter's wedding memorable.

I stayed at the Post Card in this past week. They did a very nice job of renovating the hotel. They skimped a few corners with the bathrooms, but besides that everything was perfect. The front desk manager was so accomadating and the bartender at the pool bar was so nice. Except for the bathrooms not looking like they were updated during the renovation everything about my stay at the post card in was perfect.

Greeetings Beachbl261, Thanks for staying at PCI and thanks for the review. I appreciate the extra kudos for Tony and Kim. We used our renovation dollars to enhance the areas we figured our guests spend most of their time when on vacation. We're continuously making improvements and look forward to you seeing what's new on your next trip down to paradise! Best Regards, Jason
