“Impressive exposures of an ancient coral reef”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

More people should visit and ponder the implications of how a patch reef (with brain coral similar to those living today at Cheeca Rocks, Hen and Chickens, or The Rocks) could grow at this elevation 125,000 years ago.

The visitor center has excellent displays explaining the history of the area.

“Worthwhile stop”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Stopped here on a very hot day. It was interesting to see the old equipment and consider the monumental task that Henry Flagger set out to do constructing the railroad to Key West. The ranger was great. He pointed out that there was a temporary explosion in the golden orb spider population. That put an end to my wife's exploration. I thought the spiders were cool (about 3" in diameter). The coral is neat as well as the displays on how the reefs were formed and grow.

“neat place to visit and learn about Fl”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The park is neat and the information on the area and how it formed was great to learn. Get the book from the front desk so you can read about the different items they have marked. Bug spray is also a good option.

“Great lessons on the history of The Keys.”
Reviewed September 6, 2013 via mobile

Hiking through the park was a nice change from the more traditional beach activities. The whole family learned a lot.
