“neat place to visit and learn about Fl”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

The park is neat and the information on the area and how it formed was great to learn. Get the book from the front desk so you can read about the different items they have marked. Bug spray is also a good option.

“Great lessons on the history of The Keys.”
Reviewed September 6, 2013 via mobile

Hiking through the park was a nice change from the more traditional beach activities. The whole family learned a lot.

“Great fossil and coral understanding out of the water”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Very educative and exposed coral/fossil on the ground. It is an amazing place to see the different fossilized coral types just below your feet and to walk on them. The ranger is very nice and very helpful, he made us return to some places, we missed some of the very remarkable examples of fossil or tree roots. The trails were really abundant of mosquitoes and we could not be able to admire in relax all the trees and plants, but the quarry itself rewarded us with the sunny and open view of the corals. Take some water and bug spray for the trails. The quarries are very close to the ranger station and the washrooms, but still is convenient to have some water bottles with you.

“Great History and Trails”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

Enjoyed the museum that explained the historical significance of this site in the construction of Flagler's railroad to Key West. But the trails through the park were even better. The park ranger gave us a trail guide to use, which clearly identified dozens of the tropical trees and plants. Very interesting and educational for anyone interested in botany and nature. We were there in July and expected the mosquitos to be awful in the forested sections, but they weren't bad the day we visited. Sure, there were some, but nothing like the Everglades in July.
