Description: In the Florida Keys you'll find this old Keys-style marina and fish shack "somewhere on A1A." A true conch atmosphere with many tasty delights, here in this Florida Keys restaurant you'll find yourself indulged in the Caribbean-inspired cuisine, the compassionate people and old Keys tranquility that is the Hungry Tarpon restaurant in Islamorada. The building has been standing since 1947 and with a home like Robbie's of Islamorada, plus a fascinating history, it all makes the Hungry Tarpon a part of the tradition since 1976. Enjoy dining on our bayside deck with tiki torches lighting up the night. Relax with friends over our fabulous appetizers and watch the boats come and go. Stroll our open air shops then wander to our sandy beach, melt into one of our bayside lounge chairs and let the sea air wash away the rush of the day.

“A trip down the Keys”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2013

We stopped at the Hungry Tarpon on our drive down to Key West upon the advise of other Parrotheads.
I do no regret stopping my any means.
The food was very good; the portions were huge and the LandShark beer was cold (all beer was cold lol).
Watching people feeding the Tarpon; seeing kids tossing food for the birds; sitting by the water in a Tiki-hut atmosphere....is was a nice cool reprieve from the heat of the day.
You must go to the Hungry Tarpon at least once....then I know you'll go back

“Nice view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013 via mobile

We stopped in for a quick bite before Snorkling and had a nice view of the water and also the folks feeding the tarpon. The view was over the glassy bay with a light breeze and filtered light; we could have relaxed here all day. The service was quick and the food good.

“Excellent shrimp tacos”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

We wanted to sit outside but the breeze and cool temps at the end of November killed that idea and sent us inside the tiny restaurant at the Hungry Tarpon. It's not much to look at, but don't let that stop you. Everyone inside is friendly. Tyler was our server, and this kid should be doing stand-up comedy. I took his recommendation and ordered the shrimp tacos - you can have them grilled, blackened, or fried. Tyler suggested blackened, and that was a stellar suggestion. Yum. I think I've had shrimp tacos once at one other place and they were awful, which is why I've never ordered them again. These were incredible. I just could not eat them fast enough - you get three, and the juices begin to make the others soggy rather quickly. My husband wound up eating the third one, not because it was too soggy, but because it was just so much food.
He ordered the the shrimp burrito, which was served with fried shrimp and cole slaw inside. I don't think he asked how the shrimp would be prepared, and I think he was surprised it wound up being fried. This thing was massive. It looked like a small bomb on his plate.
Both of us thought the tomatoes that were served with our food were fresh and delicious. This is a place we would eat at again and again.

“It's 5 o'clock somewhere”

We do not make a trip to the Keys without eating at the Hungry Tarpon. Perfect Keys atmosphere, delicious breakfast, love the shrimp burrito for lunch or dinner. Friendly, accommodating staff. Just relax and enjoy the view from the deck.
