This is our second year staying at the Moorings. Tranquil, beautifully maintained, unhurried, authentic. They seem to understand what their guests want and they deliver in spades. This is not for people who want to be catered to by over-attentive staff or a place with a buzzing social scene. It is quiet... over a week we saw only three other guests. 8am yoga on the beach is fantastic, as is the massage therapist at the spa onsite. This is a slice of heaven.

Room Tip: All the houses each have their own charm.

Thank you for the feedback and kind words about The Moorings.
We are glad you had a peaceful stay. That is our goal for all of our guests.
Amy at Island Body and Sol (the spa at The Moorings) does a great job with all of the spa services and her 8am yoga class on the beach has become a hit.
We look forward to seeing you next year!

This is an absolutely spectacular, beachfront property. We came off-season in mid-September and were able to book at a prorated rate for the weekend even though website says you can only rent by the week. We stayed in Pinder, a two bedroom house with another couple - real open floor plan with great kitchen, washer/dryer, beautiful bedrooms with large porches. It was extremely comfortable and relaxing. Great spa and plenty to do - kayaks available to use (no extra charge), tennis, plenty of hammocks to just hang out in, great spa (get a waterfront massage!) and the pool was very nice. Grounds are immaculately maintained and the staff is helpful but not overbearing. Restaurants are supposed to be good (but also seemed expensive) - we opted to dine on Rt 1. instead at a few of the local options, some that were within walking distance (Kaiyo Grill & Sushi was very good). Not cheap but very secluded and peaceful. Website not particularly easy to use or navigate but overall a magnificent stay.

Room Tip: Some of the houses have rooms with two single beds - make sure you check to you are renting a house...

Thank you for the nice feedback about The Moorings. We are glad you were comfortable in the Pinder house. During high season, we do have a one week minimum stay in Pinder and the other 2 story/2 bedroom houses, however we are always happy to accommodate guests for a shorter time period during the off-season months.
Thank you for noticing the grounds of the property. We have a staff dedicated to keeping all of the natural landscape in pristine shape and we are glad you appreciated the beauty here.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the website. We are in the process of creating a completely new website and should launch very soon.
Thank you again for your nice comments and we hope to see you again soon!

We stayed here 2 nights to finish a 10 day trip around Florida. Our cottage was well equipped, clean, though the bed was a little uncomfortable (I'm writing this with neck ache) but this could be just me.
The beach is a stone's throw away and we would often have the stretch to ourselves. There are hammocks and loungers in abundance. The grounds are kept in stunning order. We had a friendly cat sit on our porch everyday.
The kitchen is well equipped as the place is self catering. There are v good restaurants nearby including an excellent sushi/grill restaurant round the corner with an extensive sake menu.

You can use bikes and kayaks provided.

There's a large pool and also a gym , both in good order.

Don't expect clear blue water though. It gets a little sludgy on the water's edge. The view , however, is beautiful.

Couldn't fault this place. It's really for getting away and having some quiet time and not being disturbed by hotel staff and the crowds, but you obviously pay for this luxury.

A great way to wind down our holiday. Would definitely recommend 100%!!!

After a busy week in Costa Rica, we wanted a relaxing week in the Florida Keys to unwind. The Moorings was perfect for that. Our two-storey, two bedroom house had everything we could want, it was a 30-second walk to the pool and not much further to the hammocks on the beach. With a fitness room, bicycles available for free, a DVD library and privacy, it was a great way to relax. The properties were spread out over the resort and you never needed to meet anyone except at the pool. Service was great and you only had to ask for any activity to be arranged for you - we went deep sea fishing and he kids swam with dolphins - all organised by The Moorings. Excellent!

Room Tip: Each building is set apat on its own and not ovelooked by any other, so just decide how much space y...

We stayed two nights in the Sifca house and loved it. The cottage was so beautifully appointed and the people couldn't have been nicer. This is very well kept secret in Islamorada...Will definitely go again. Pierres restaurant for dinner and the Morada Beach cafe for lunch or sunset happy hour were equally as impressive. We had the best dinner at Pierre's with excellent service.

Wow. The one word that kept coming to me as I walked the grounds at The Moorings was "stunning". I would add breathtaking. I kept having to remind myself that I was in Florida. The beach was more beautiful than anything I have seen in the islands or anywhere else in the States and I love beaches. We stayed in the Lodges-South and were very surprised at how nice it was. I think it has been updated from the pictures on their website as the paneling has all been painted white and the rooms are very bright. I didn't realize it was two rooms, one with the full kitchen and sofa area and then a large separate bedroom. The bathroom was very nicely done with lovely tile. The landscaping on the property is beyond description, I have attached pictures that still don't do it justice. We saw very few other people while there. It is a very private, secluded, peaceful experience. We did take out the kayaks one day. The restaurant (across the street) is a separate review, but it was our favorite. Believe everything good you read about The Moorings, it is all true.
