The check-in was nice, they even offered me a glass of champaign which was a nice touch. Problem is that was the best part of the entire stay.

The room was booked through a travel agent so I didn't see a description of the room, which is my own fault and not the hotels. The 'standard' room is terribly small and the view is a closed hallway much like what you would see in a motel 6 and not like a 'hotel' at all. Nothing beach-like about that!

We checked in and wanted to go to the beach, after all this is the "beachside hotel", we were shocked when we found the ENTIRE beach blocked off for a wedding. Mind you this was around 2pm in the afternoon and we were told the wedding was not until sunset. I paid for a beachside hotel and got nothing but a beach closed sign. Not cool. On top of that the pool was full of screaming kids and there is no view of the (closed) beach from what we deemed to be the largest kiddy pool ever.

We went to dinner and got back to the room around 10pm to find the room temperature at 78 degrees. I was told they couldn't move us and no one would be able to look at the AC until the next day. I asked what should I do just sleep in a stuffy hot room? I was told to turn on the ceiling fan. Seriously.

The room was miserably warm all night and I decided I was done with this hotel so we checked out and went to the Hyatt (which was amazing btw). When checking out I very nicely explained to the manager on duty why I was checking out but I got no apology and no discount on the room. He actually asked me if I needed a ride to the Hyatt!

On top of this place being the furthest hotel away from old town where all the attractions are, the horrible room, broken AC and the complete lack of concern from the staff I can easily say this was the worse experience I have ever had in a Marriott and close to the worse of any hotel I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: If you feel you must stay here for whatever reason do not choose the 'standard' room. Its a...

My husband and I travel extensively and look forward to staying in nice hotels. Well, the Marriott beachside in Key West, FL exceeded our expectations. The 1 bedroom suite is beautifully decorated and they layout is highly functional with a full kitchen, dining room, living room and separate bed and full master bath with jacuzzi tub. The view faces the pool, and we can see the gulf from the 2 story patio. The room also includes a washer and dryer which is great for our extended trip. We also ate at Tavern N Town and had a great meal (the fresh catch hogfish) with some fabulous cocktails (hand made margarita "The Parrothead" and an "Old Cuban Mojito". We are already planning our next trip back over the winter! Sunsets are spectacular from the hotel's back dock, too.

If you're seeking a Florida beach experience, this is the place. The hotel has a small beach and a fabulous pool area. Our room had been upgraded to a suite. It was like staying in a Pottery Barn ad. The suite was decorated in a contemporary fashion, had a huge marble shower, deep and large hot tub, and a fully functional kitchen. It also had a washer and dryer. Given that you can't wear anything twice in Key West (due to the heat and humidity), this was a major bonus. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. Absolutely no complaints about our stay there.

We booked 2 rooms and one was upgraded to their best suite as a platinum member. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the restaurant , and the rooms were top notch . IMHO the best hotel in Key West.
The front desk young gentleman who checked us in , i think his name was Odin , he is orginally from Haiti, was so nice and cheerful and just trying to help in any way possible. He made us enjoy our stay , it is always the small things that count.

Room Tip: Waterfront rooms with a balcony are terrific!!

ARRIVAL:
.
check in was very quick, FD agents referred to us by name, recognized the Marriott Reward membership, very informative about the hotel, room location , pool, restaurant and specials.

POOL AREA:
After settling in, we went to the pool for your happy hour and to relax by the pool. Bartender was pleasant, took drink orders very efficiently. The pool area is fantastic, great view, plenty of seating. I want to also address we went to the pool the next morning and having the pool attendant come by every so often to spray your feet with water and clean sun glasses is a nice touch. He also came by with pieces of fruit at one point. Awesome Happy Hour specials everyday!!!

ROOMS:
- The suites are very well appointed. Beds are comfortable, the balconies are very spacious and the kitchen amenities are clean and updated. Very well maintained.

TNT RESTAURANT:
- DINNER- service was very efficient, the entrees came in an organized manner. When one course was complete the next was on its way. Server addressed all questions and substitution requests in a kind and professional manner. The food was fresh, very well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. My Compliments to the chef and the kitchen staff. My wife had the French onion soup, her biggest thing is when she orders this soup it has to be piping hot!!!! Her soup at TNT exceeded her expectations. The temperature was hot, and soup was tasty. I had the rack of lamb and I enjoyed the simple seasoning and searing of the cut of meat. Sometimes lamb is over seasoned to mask the gaminess of the meat. This was not the case here. Exceptional!!!

- BREAKFAST – We had the pleasure of eating the breakfast buffet both days Overall the food was great, again fresh, clean, well-seasoned. Omelet station is a great touch and were made perfectly. The fruit was sweet, ripe to season, and very fresh.

DEPARTURE:
- Check out was a breeze, FD agent very accommodating, addressed me by name again and thanked me for our stay.

OVERALL:
- FABULOUS DESTINATION RESORT, WELL MAINTAINED, GREAT SERVICE, AND GREAT AMENITIES. I always say no matter where you stay a bed is a bed but the amenities, attention to detail and focus from the staff is what makes for a great experience.

Room Tip: Every room is great, resrot view overlooks the pool. Highly recommend getting the SUITE.

So, we've stayed here a couple of times in the past and LOVED it, but we had suites each time and they were some of the BEST suites EVER!!!

This time we didn't want to pay that much so we paid slightly less and got their regular room. The room was basically the smallest hotel room we've EVER stayed in! There was no window to speak of to give us an idea of what the weather was outside or let sunlight shine in, as the only window in the room is in a walkway and everyone walking by would see in to the room.

We asked the front desk twice about upgrading us and they said they did have rooms available, but they would charge $100 more per night for the upgrade. We were paying enough for the room already, so if there were bigger rooms not being used, why not just upgrade us for free? They have done this before! Needless to say, we didn't pay the upgrade fee and just dealt with this terrible tiny room.

The bathroom was ok though, but closet space was lacking and floor space in the room was as well.

Water pressure in the shower was horrible. Speaking of horrible, the housekeeping wasn't very impressive. We stayed 5 nights and for the first two days we were out all day only to come back to get ready for the 5PM happy hour/dinner and the room still wasn't done! We would come back around 3:30 or so and when we called, we were told "that crew works until 5." But this isn't a valid reason for not doing the rooms sooner. In every Marriott property we've stayed in before the rooms seem to be done first thing in the morning.

We ended up complaining to a housekeeping manager and she set us up for early room servicing and from then on we were good.

All of the amenities at this property really are great though! The front desk staff seems nice and their restaurant is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Judy, the manager runs a nice, tight ship and always has a smile!

Again, we'll be back because of the restaurant, but definitely NOT because of this crappy room! We'll have to save up for a suite. We suggest you do the same!

Room Tip: Don't get the smaller rooms! Get a suite!

We stayed in a beautiful suite with a pool view, with typical high end Marriott furnishings and that oh-so-comfortable bed. We had a view from our balcony and our premium suite had a spiral staircase to the roof where we could see the entire island. The full kitchen was large with full size appliances - but you don't need to cook because room service is great - and a great restaurant and bar awaits near the lobby. When we were there (June) there was a happy hour with drink and snack specials.

There is an hourly free shuttle to downtown Key West - this hotel is about 4 miles away from Duval Street. If you stay out later than the shuttle runs (stopped at 11:20pm when we were there) a cab ride back to the hotel should run $20, including tip.

This was a room that I'll be returning to - a great experience and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a suite!
