We stayed at this hotel based on the reviews here. We are so glad we did! We had an excellent stay. Loved the rooms, wonderful breakfast buffet, great pool.
It is a little far from the action, but it was a quick drive to town or take the hotel shuttle.
If you are spring breaking and want to be in the middle of everything, this location might not work for you, but seriously, it is a quick ride in. It is worth it for the hotel, it was really nice and modern and had great service.
Loved the pool cabanas!
We would certainly recommend this hotel & we will stay at this hotel again.
If you book the hotel and want breakfast, I paid for the breakfast in advance, it was a choice on the Marriott website. It was cheaper that way.

We stayed here as part of a combo flight/hotel/car deal through a third party site. We chose this particular hotel because the package was cheaper than some of the other hotels on the island (such as Parrot Key). I guess you get what you pay for. The room they stuck us in really looked nothing like the photos on the website. If not for the name "beachside", I would have had no idea this place was near the water, from the area we were staying in. Our room was very small and dark. The only small window looked out on an exterior corridor "hallway" which had excellent views of other travelers wheeling their suitcases past, but not much else. Honestly, that's the kind of "view" I'd expect of a Motel 6, not a Marriott resort. The hotel was also extremely noisy-- the set-up where we were was a common door immediately off the exterior corridor, than a small foyer with a door to our room on the right and a door to another room directly in front. Every time our "foyer mates" came home, we'd hear the exterior door LOUDLY slam and echo in the foyer, and then the door to their personal room also LOUDLY slam and echo. We did not eat at the on-site restaurant, so I can't comment about that. The shuttle down to Duval street was nice, but only ran once an hour. I would probably spend a little more money and either stay at Parrot Key or one of the B&Bs closer to downtown next time.

Thank you for your review. We are truly sorry that your stay with us was not an acceptable one. We do hope you have contacted the hotel directly and have spoken to a Manager or someone that could address the problems that occurred while you were here. We pride ourselves on a great property and service, however are realistic in knowing that to achieve this takes constant attention and training. Both our good comments and our poor comments are appreciated and help us improve our four star hotel.

First stay, we stumbled upon Marriott Beachside in Jan 2010 as we helped to move our daughter down to Big Pine Key and we vowed to return because of the clean facility and friendly staff. Returned in March 2010 for spring break and brought our son and his college friend so we booked the suites and were even more impressed. Booked early for our third visit last October for Fantasy Fest, and brought extended family and continued to have the perfect vacation. Easy for those who want to participate in the great activities in town by using hotel shuttle, (especially when alcohal is involved). This is our favorite place in the lower Keys.

Room Tip: Suites have best views, vs single rooms, ask.

The Key West Marriott Beachside has some of nicest suites in Key West, which is why we chose it. The suite are larger and decorated superbly and outfitted with top of line appliances. The pool area is nice sized, but not resort sized. The food options are limited to pool dining and a multi purpose restaurant. The lobby is very small and besides the pool and man made "beach", there is little space to roam. There is smallish, but well appointed work out space with a killer view. The rooms are very well constructed and block out any street noise as the resort is located at a very busy intersection. The pool crowd was notably noisy during our stay including some visitors who were not actually staying at the hotel. The crowd in general was a little rough, which was someone of a surprise given the decor/feel of a luxury resort. That said, the service was excellent as well. Finally, there was no spa/store and/or areas to relax except the pool area, but the room size made up for limited common areas/amenities.

Room Tip: Bully the front desk staff

Thank you for your review. We actually do not call ourselves a resort. We are considered a hotel and feel our amenities coincide with that. March is a bit of a noisy time for us and Key West as it is spring break. We hope you stay with us on your next visit to Key West!

I had researched hotels extensively before traveling to Key West. I was a little concerned about the location of the hotel. The location was fine, on the water with a (small) beach. That is hard to come by in Key West. The shuttle service worked out great for us with transportation to town every hour. The hotel offers a beautiful pool area with a water view, something you won't get in town. We did stay in a one bedroom suite(water view) and wow was it nice. I am very picky with accommodations and this place had it all...comfortable bed, nice linens, hip decor, beautiful kitchen with a subzero refrigerator. We didn't rent a car and this would have been helpful mainly to grocery shop. We instead walked to the store(just under a mile away). I would choose Marriott instead of the resorts in town, too much chaos down there if you are trying to have a relaxing vacation!

Extended a Miami Beach business trip with a trip to Key West for 2 nights. Must do: rent a convertible for the drive down and allow time to stop and enjoy the drive to Key West.

This Marriott is very nice...our room was a one bedroom suite with a great balcony overlooking the gulf. Two baths, full kitchen, dining room & living room area and a bar. The master bath is fabulous with a walk in shower and a jaqcuzzi tub. Just an awesome room - wish we had stayed longer. The beach really is not a true beach but a small "man made" sand area and the pool area is relatively small for a "tropical resort" - but to be honest we didnt' spend a lot of time around the pool area I twas our first trip to key West and we drove our red convertible all over the island exploring (during the day). At night we went to Duval St (taking the shuttle leaving our red Mustang convertible parked!) We enjoyed breakfast both days in the hotel restaurant - nice buffet with made to order eggs & waffles.

The hotel is situated right over the bridge driving into Key West - directly off a major bouelvard. If you plan to just enjoy the resort and not hit Duval - it may work out for you but you cannot walk to Duval Street. The hotel provides shuttle to Duval, once per hour. But in the early evening (6 pm) it gets a bit crowed for the shuttle rides and people do not respect that others have been waiting for the shuttle ahead of them...they push right onto the shuttle bus with disregard for the line waiting to climb aboard. Very rude. Once the shuttle was full, the hotel did provide additional transportation which was nice - since about 6 or 8 of us would have been waiting another hour for the next scheduled shuttle trip. This is a situation that could end badly with the wrong mix of people and the hotel should add more shuttles during the busy times or somehow monitor the line. The return trip was not bad if you make sure you are there right on time. The first night we were actually walking towards the shuttle about 30 ft. away and he pulled off. We had a choice sit in the bar at Margueritaville and wait an hour or take a taxi...we were exhausted and took a taxi - $15.

As a marriott rewards elite member, I did receive complimenty internet at this property otherwise i think you had to pay.

I would recommend this property definitely if you have a family trip...with children and aren't into the draw of Duval street in the evenings. Otherwise, and I love Marriotts and hate to say it, you need to move closer to Duval and all that it offers and find another hotel.

Thank you for your review. You will be happy to know that we are in fact in the process of buying another shuttle. Our guest satisfaction is very important and although we always do pay for taxis to bring our guests downtown, we have realized the need to provide more shuttle service. We hope to see you again.

This hotel is small but has beautiful, modern suites. Unfortunatley there is a very small pool area, and all lounge chairs are taken by 9:00 am. There is really no "beach" to speak of. They do have jetski tours on site, and the guys are great. Only other rental available was one kayak and two standing paddle boards.

The food at the restaurant is good, but there is only one option for a vegetarian. The only other close place to eat is a Denny's. The shuttle leaves for downtown every hour, and I witnessed fights break out over seats on the shuttle. The management did call for another van to take the many guests who want to go downtown, but who needs the hassle on vacation?
Fights and pushing occur when trying to get on the shuttle to go back to the hotel as well.

Bottom line, if you want to stay inside your beautiful room all day and night and miss all the fun, quirky, history of Key West then this is the hotel for you. If you like nice furniture and tile floors, stay here.

Thank you for your review. We understand that even on our little 2 mile by 4 mile island, being one of the furthest hotels from Duval Street does not meet everyone's needs. We do our best to provide the shutlle service that is easy and convenient. We will be expanding this service to adding another shuttle to elivaite any shortage of seating.
