Spent the week of New Years and had a wonderful time! Rose Lane is a wonderful place to stay. It has a perfect location if you want to be in the middle of all the "action" of Old Town Key West. It's within a block or 2 of many of the top bars and shops. We rented the 3 bedroom villa. The layout and size were perfect for 6 people. We had 3 balconies - 2 overlooking the pool, the other the street. The street is really a quiet alleyway that almost goes unnoticed so very little traffic. The decor, appliances, property, everything was all well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are located at Old Town Manor, so we really only saw the housekeeping staff, which was all we needed there anyway. Old Town Manor is right behind Rose Lane but there is no cut-through so you have to walk around the block. Not a long distance, but if you have your luggage, drop it off at the villa and only send 1 person around to check in/out. I'd definitely stay here again.

I had never been to the Keys and i thought -oh joy- we are going to Florida. In other words I was not looking forward to going because i live in Florida and thought it would be the- same ole same ole-. Boy was I wrong. Our guest house was the perfect location it was in heart of the action yet very secluded and quaint. We were located behind the Hard Rock cafe yet on a quiet lane. The room was clean and had all of the amenities that you could want. The staff were helpful and informed us of the best places to go and see off the beaten path which is important to us. The only complaint we had was they did not provide coffee daily. We had a coffee pot but they only gave us coffee for one day. They even had a sign stating that did not provide coffee after the first day. But still we would recommend this quest house to our friends visiting the Keys. we plan to return and will stay at the same place.

This was my first trip to Key West. One of my friends
who came with us had stayed at the Rose Villa before and
suggested we stay there. We rented the Villa Grande. It was
perfect for 5 women. 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. A full kitchen. Shared pool area, but we had it all to ourselves. A deck on the front and the back. Very close to Duval street. Everyone
was nice and helpful. We had a great time.

We just returned from key west. Stayed for 1 week in early november. Loved key west overall. Was hotter than normal but we enjoyed this coming from minnesota. We stayed at Knowles House bed and breakfast one night, camped in dry tortugas one night and stayed at the rose lane villas (villa alta) for 4 nights.

Overall had a good experience at rose lane villas. Place was fairly clean except for carpets which did not appear super dirty but your feet got dirty from walking on them without shoes. One problem which didn't bother us too much but people should consider...the bedroom air conditioner and/or carpet smelled like urine. This has been reviewed in the past and we decided to try it anyway. Try to maybe stay in another condo in this unit instead of the villa alta.

Kitchen was clean, dishes were clean. No dishwasher. Bathroom was small but fine. Place was cleaned a bit each day but they encourage people to keep their towels each day to minimize washing and environmental impact. Parking space provided which was nice.

This Oct. will be my 14th year staying at the Rose Lane Villas, formely, Artists House Villas. The first 12 years were spent with girls week out. My girlfriend booked it for us. The last 2 years have been with my husband, which we got married at the Villas in 2006. I have stayed in all the villas, except one, and have enjoyed all of them. Never have had any hassles with anything. We always got fresh towels each day, other than that we were left alone, which we have always chose to do. I have made several friends from Key West, by sitting on the porch, which I still keep in touch with. It's my home away from home. See you 10-9-08.

We love staying at Rose Lane Villas. It's a very quite and private. You don't hear the noise from Duval Street. It has it's only private pool. Our room was just steps from the pool. This is the second time this year that we've stayed here, four times altogether and we've already book for next May. The managers are very friendly they deserve a raise. If you want to plan a side trip, they are there to help you with any questions that you might have. I would highly recommend them to anybody wanting to just get away from everything. All the rooms have a full kitchen, you wouldn't even have to leave this little piece of heaven.

If you know anything about KW, the location of this place cannot be beat!

We were expected to clean our own bathrooms, kitchens and that type of thing. I don't really enjoy going on vacation and having to work, as that is what I go on vacation for.

We also were not thrilled about not receiving new/clean towels everyday.

We stayed in villas 21 and I believe 22. We had two other couples with us. It was nice to have everyone in the same place.

The "smell" of the house was not pleasant. It smelled dirty when you walked in. The rugs and the floors were absolutely filthy. We would walk around and our feet would get so dirty. I was extremely surprised. I starting wearing booties around inside and they were just filthy!

The pool was nice and comfortable. They have "speakers" outside but there is no radio, stereo or anything else that provided music. I was confused about the speakers and lack of stereo.

If you have a laptop, don't expect to get an internet connection. They were supposed to hafe WiFi but if they do, it doesn't work. I tried for four days to get on the internet and was unable to.

There is a nice breakfast but you had to pay $5 for it. I found that to be odd. I've never stayed at a B&B type place anywhere where I have to pay to stay and they don't provide a breakfast of some kind. It wasodd but if you know KW, the price was alot more reasonable than eating out.

The gentleman that works at the "sister" site, Carlos, was really, really nice. He was helpful and very kind and answered any and all questions. We all really liked him.

Unfortunately, due to the above comments I have made, we will not be staying there again even though the location is so great.

Thanks to the guest for taking the time to write their review. We remember them fondly. However, some of their comments are mis-representing our property. This was a large group who came to stay with us, and one person made the reservations on behalf of the group. Sometimes, this leads to mis-information with the rest of the group.

First off, we are Green, and we communicate this to our guests that towels are turned over every-other day. It is clearly stated on the website and in the confirmation letter. This is one way for us to help reduce our impact on the environment and most of our guests are more than happy to do their part.

While we appreciate sensitive noses, the "smell" is common to historic homes. We use natural Lavender oil deodorizers (because we are Green) but they do not leave an overpowering smell. With respect to the floors, it natural to assume that if you have multiple people in a unit, they will track dirt inside if they wear shoes inside.

With regards to the Internet, it is live and accessible to our guests (even our neighbors!). If these guests had reported a problem, we would have gladly worked on it for them.

The Rose Lane Villas is NOT a B&B. These are individual condo-style units with fully equipped kitchens in a secluded compound. It is clear on our website and in the confirmation letter that breakfast is not included with the room charges. Folks who normally choose to stay at the Villas are there for more than a few days. The convenience of the kitchen, the living rooms, etc, provide more space for our guests to enjoy. They also enjoy their privacy. The kitchens help to save money instead of eating out every meal.
