How to meet someone who lives in Key West. Get out of the mess Key West has become and enjoy the eccentricities of what it means to those who remember it. I do not understand the negative reviews. Obviously the garden is a bird garden if you do a little research. Just because one bird doesn't want to get on you - be grateful she recognizes that now is not the right time for that bird to sit on you. They are animals who do not respond to everyone and she reads them quite well. The only reason I did it give it five stars was it was a little long. We stayed an hour and half and stood. I felt impolite excusing myself because I in no way did not enjoy it I just got hot and needed to move a little. I think she does a great job at keeping true to Key West and providing a much needed service for these birds.

Nancy is very informative and has a collection of beautiful birds. We went at 10am for the presentation. Definitely go when she first opens because you will learn a lot about the birds and get a chance to hold one/feed one. She is kind enough to let tourists into her own backyard.

Took a journey into Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden and was rewarded with a extremely enjoyable and interesting adventure with the "Magnificent Macaws". Nancy was very knowledgeable and explained history, habitat, personalities, care and training of these gorgeous birds. We were all well-prepared and invited to personally interact with them. It was amazing to see how intelligent and responsive they were to us. Best to go in the morning when Nancy is working with the birds and able to give demonstrations.

Nancy had opened her home to many orphaned and abused birds, she allows the public into her back yard where you can walk through and read the stories of each bird and if you go early you can talk to Nancy and take pictures with a hyacinth macaw. This is not about birds who do tricks or a fancy show, this is a rescue and education center. Proceeds go to vet bills and care which is worth every penny!

Our visit on June 23 was absolutely delightful. Our group consisted of 2 seniors, 2 young adults and 2 small children (ages 4 and 7). We were doing a self-guided tour when Steve came out and began a very interesting introduction to the birds. We learned so much about the parrots, their lives and their behavior. It was well-worth the price and I will go back every time I visit Key West. But it is not a tourist attraction for everyone. It is wonderful for animal-lovers, nature-lovers and those who have a curious spirit and want to learn about an amazing species. We did not get to meet Nancy, but enjoyed every minute with Steve! Thanks so much!
