After careful research, I chose The Santa Maria Suites. The reviews were all positive, and that's what I look for.
I have to say, all the reviews were correct. The place is beautiful, clean, spacious. You have a full kitchen, I had two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs, and a pullout couch and half bathroom downstairs.
I have to say that Derek, the bartender at the pool, goes over and above the call of duty to make you feel welcome and comfortable. He was such a pleasure to talk to. He would fill our glasses with delicious wine, and told us to help ourselves to pita chips and dip. The smoothies are wonderful, with or without alcohol. They give you bottled water, which I think is a plus for a stay in Florida.
The weather was perfect for the three days we stayed, which was Nov. 8-11. I liked the peacefulness of the place during the week. You can go as mild or wild as you want when you go on the main street filled with restaurants, bars, shops, etc. It's a fun place, and my familly can't wait to come back.
Irish Kevin's was a fun bar. Mallory Square was very nice. Backyard Louie's was delicious.
We went to two beaches that were walking distance from our hotel.
The small beach, about a block away gave us free chairs, and there's a nice cafe there to eat. There's another public beach about 5 blocks away, a lot bigger, but you have to pay for the chairs.
I would say this hotel is perfect for couples, families, singles, it's a piece of heaven, and we enjoyed every minute.

Room Tip: If you have a party of 5-6, chose the two bedroom with the pullout couch. There's a deli across the street, so you can buy snacks or you can get your own liquor and wine. They have a wine cooler, microwave, refrig, washer/dryer and detergent. Ask for extra of anything if you need it, detergent, towels, muffins, water, etc. The office staff is wonderful.

We booked this hotel via Small Luxury Hotels but did not find anything luxury at all. (Usually SLH program implies correctly.) We were disappointed to quality, and were wondering how Santa Maria Suites keeps receiving rave reviews... We do not agree.

Suites have stylish interior decor, but are not clean. Our two bedroom suite had very dusty bedrooms - I got allergic reaction and had to start medication. And the kitchen was awfully dirty. The kitchen cabinets were spotty with greasy fingerprints, the plates were not so clean, and among 'clean' ones were totally unwashed ones. Yikes! So I washed everything by hand before use as the dishwasher was no good.

Hotel delivers muffins and small ice creams every night. Although the muffins were wrapped on plastic, as soon as the muffins were delivered, came also the brownish ant-like insects. Not so nice to have insects climbing all over your muffins, so we never ate a single one.

The pool area looks nice and has a tropical vibe. Unfortunately water in pools was quite dirty, seemed brownish. Pools would need cleaning far more often. And, be aware that Santa Maria Suites has no services what one would expect of a luxury hotel.

All in all, we came to conclusion that Santa Maria Suites should be called something else but a luxury hotel. It is far more like an average three star apatment hotel. -- And when compared to what you pay for it, you do not get enough for your money!

Room Tip: Compare the price/cost you would be paying here, and what you would be getting for your money... Can not recommend.

Three of us stayed at SMS last April. Loved the suite.....had a bi-level.....two bedroom......plenty of room both upstairs and downstairs. Huge kitchen!

Nice pool.....free slushys.....free ice cream bars, fruit. and muffins!!

What we all loved the most was the location. We all rented bikes and road them everywhere.

I have just had a lovely relaxing holiday with my sister & brother-in-law. The hotel was spotless & very comfortable with everything we needed. The staff were all very nice, but I must compliment you on employing Derek the Concierge, his willingness to assist in booking events & resturants for us was second to none. He kept the pool area in a wonderful condition, was always kind & considerate, he has helped to make the experience an excellent one.
Thank you.

Wonderful facility, beautiful surroundings and peaceful and restful property. We thought the unit was better than home! Derek was a helpful and attentive concierge who made our holiday even more special than we had anticipated. Had a wonderful time and can't wait till we return.

Room Tip: Room 3 was on the ground floor and convenient to pool.
