Owner description: The Eco-Discovery Center features more than 6,000 square feet of interactive exhibits, which interpret the resources and management efforts of Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, two national parks, and four national wildlife refuges. Check out the exhibit on Aquarius, the world's only underwater ocean laboratory, the Living Reef exhibit, which includes a 2,500-gallon reef tank with living corals and tropical fish, the live Reef Cam, and other displays that highlight the coral reef environment. The Center is located in NOAA’s Dr. Nancy Foster Florida Keys Environmental Complex on the Truman Annex waterfront in Key West. Admission is always free (and so is parking), so be sure to stop by for a visit!

“Has potential”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

The center is very nice and I expected to learn a lot. However, the movie they showed was more a documentary on a woman growing up in Florida instead of being about the reef and what's killing it and how and what is being done to save it.

“Small but nice & FREE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

We had one hour to kill before our dinner reservation so we went there. It had a few small aquariums, but the highlight was the 20 minute movie. It featured a snorkler free diving. We found out later she holds the world's record at over 4 minutes! The underwater photogrraphy was excellent!

“great learning experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014

for anyone interested in nature and curious about the Keys. Not too fancy, but off the streets and close to the water. Guides and staff are very informative and hospitable.
Great opportunity to learn about the land and the sea, and the local life forms.

“A Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014

The Eco-Discovery Center is near the entrance to Fort Zachary State Park and its FREE. Excellent NOAA exhibition that gives an insight into the Eco system of the Florida Keys & why it is so important to preserve it. There is a cool display where you put on 3-D glasses and see Many fish swimming around. It was well worth our time to visit this center for a better understanding of the environment, animals, reef, and life around the Keys. Volunteers were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.

“Informative and quiet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014

The Eco-Discovery Center is a little bit from Fort Zachary State Park, but not really near anything else, so it's more quiet, at least compared to Duval Street and is great for kids. You'll be able to learn about the diverse sea life of the Keys, about how underwater research stations allow scientists to perform long-term experiments, including serving as a test facility for NASA astronauts, and rest your feet for 20 minutes to watch a movie about mangroves and reefs. This place is quiet, clean and worth a visit.
