My husband and I have stayed in at least 6 or 7 B+Bs in Key West but have not found a place we would return to. That is until we checked into the Knowles House in mid April. The home was built in the 1860's and has been beautifully restored, added on to and maintained by the owners, Les and Paul. They, along with Christina, the manager, and Magda, who kept our room clean and the linens fresh, are warm and welcoming. We immediately booked a return trip for this coming November and extended our usual stay because we felt so comfortable and relaxed here. Each bedroom has a small refrigerator which we greatly appreciated. Although the house is located on Eaton Street, it's far enough from Duval and the noise that often accompanies Key West that we heard nothing and slept soundly on the most comfortable bed I've enjoyed in a long time.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 8, one of 3 newer rooms that open onto the pool/patio area. Because it's located toward the back of the property it was quiet and private. The room is large and has 2 double beds which I also appreciated.

KWInnkeepers, Manager at Knowles House B&B, responded to this reviewResponded May 23, 2012

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. Out of all the B&B's in Key West, we are so happy you chose us and we must say, it was our absolute pleasure having you as our guests. You have just given us the highest compliment any Innkeeper would possibly receive, not only by referring to us as your home away from home, but by coming back to stay with us. We will have your favorite room ready and look forward to welcoming you back in November! With our warmest regards...Christina, Les & Paul

Our only complaint is we wish we had more time to stay at Knowles House! The location is perfect, quiet and away from the noise yet close enough to walk to the restaurants, water, and trolley. We parked the car a half block away and did not move it until we left. The room was cheery and clean and had everything we needed. The atmosphere was relaxing and the breakfast was a perfect start to the day. The staff made reservations for us and gave us pointers on what to do and see. Our favorite end to each day was going up the spiral staircase to the roof and enjoying the evening breeze while star gazing and just relaxing!

My wife and I had Key West on our bucket list and happened upon Knowles House for accommodations. We loved it! Les, an owner, said our room would be small. It was that but done very nicely, and more than enough space for us. We BOTH agreed it was our best night's sleep on the trip. Breakfast was very pleasant and we spent time meeting other travlers on the deck/patio breakfast area. Knowles House kept charge of our luggage after check out while we toured Key West thus allowing us a leasuely time visiting the sites before heading home. Absolutely a fine time was had accommodations wise as well with the owners and staff. Thanks!

Room Tip: Owners and staff made you feel welcome. Loved our visit. They gave us a very accurate description of our room choices.

We traveled by ferry to KW in April of 2012. The Knowles House is conveniently 2 blocks from the ferry terminal, 5 blocks from Duval and a close starting point to catch the City View Trolley and start the harbor view walk. When we walked the neighborhood and up to their door we were impressed with how quiet and peaceful the area was. Les and Paul are super nice and treated us like we were special. After welcoming us they treated us to a tour and review of the historic qualities of the Knowles House, which they honor. Our room was very clean, roomy enough for us with a fabulous bathroom. If there are any negatives to report it would only be that the pool is a nice visual, but not big enough for swimming and the breakfast was continental, which may be common for Key West, but uncommon for B&B's. They were a wealth of information for the experience we wanted on the Key. Whatever we asked, they advised with extra information we didn't know to ask for including where the values were. What can we say more, except we really liked these fellows and their inn. Try it, you'll like it.

We enjoyed our stay at Knowles House B&B in March 2012. Very comfortable, yummy breakfast and great, friendly staff. Made us feel like family with a warm welcome. Felt like home away from home and look forward to the next visit. Loved the location for walking to Duval Street and sightseeing. Street parking not a problem at all.

Room Tip: A room toward the back garden will be more quiet.
