“What a Dream”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Our daughter held her wedding at the Southernmost House. We booked the entire house for the wedding couple, wedding party, family, and friends from Friday check-in until Monday check-out. There is a wonderful shaded poolside bar. The bartenders were friendly and fun. The maintenance staff was great too.
Most importantly, staff members at the Southernmost House were friendly and attentive to our needs. Our favorite person, Ted, was a true joy in the days leading up to the wedding, during, and after the wedding. He was extra helpful, caring, and particular. He understood how important it was to us to have all the details in order for the wedding. He was very patient in answering our multitude of questions both by phone and in person. He was organized and trustworthy - and was always willing to lend a helping hand. The entire wedding experience was so much more relaxed than we had expected it to be because of Ted.
We would highly recommend the Southernmost House. It is so relaxing there, as it is located on the oceanfront and has its own private pool. It really is a beautiful and quiet setting, and the staff is superb. Hopefully, you will have an opportunity to meet Ted.

they let the locals and others staying at cheap hotels/motels come in and use the pool for
ten dollars a day and get a ticket for a free drink. Me and my husband are paying $$ to stay there and a bunch of young girls were talking about getting their drink with ticket. I went in and asked for a ticket and was told that they were for people using the pool for the day. I don't want to even tell you what would have happened if I got to the pool and there were no chairs alongside due to the ten dollar crowd. Luckily that didn't happen but I am sure it must happen. I guess it is a money maker for this B and B but I do think it bothers the paying guests but it seems to be unknown to most . The new innkeeper, Nina is great as well as the rest of the staff. They can't do enough for you. The only negative about the house is there is a slight musty type odor when you walk in the door. Not sure if it is from the venting system or the older rugs. The house is old but has a lot of charm. I have to say I had a wonderful time as the location is perfect and the pool is beautiful

The 117-year-old charming, oceanfront historic inn and property is stunning. It takes my breath away every time. When you want to a moment of peace from the mayhem of Duval Street, this is indeed the place. Watching the Atlantic glisten from the pool garden is calming. The appointments are elegant and charming. Okay, so the century-plus-old has a few aches and pains like creaking floors and loose tiles! Think about how you will look and feel at 117?

My hubby and I have stayed many places in KW and for several years now we stay nowhere but the Southernmost House. Staff has ALWAYS been pleasant and helpful. In our most recent trip the week before Christmas 2012, we encountered a slight glitch in our reservation, which can happen at any hotel. Staffer Ted resolved the situation in a more than awesome way! Thank you Ted for making our trip the MOST enjoyable and we’ll see you again this year.

Very pricey boutique hotel which, if you get the right room, will be worth it to many people.
We paid extra for an ocean view double but were given room 302 which is a twin double attic room with a tiny window and quite dark. So we felt it was v overpriced for the first two days. We were then moved to rm 202, which is brighter and has a proper view. Still pricey, but better location than the Casa Marina which is the other high end alternative.
We took the attached pic of the hotel from a helicopter which we booked with Timberview Helicopters, highly recommended way to see the island!

We wanted a place that was convenient to Duval Street but on the ocean and near a beach. After a long search, my husband found Southernmost House. The photos were gorgeous, but the real thing was even better. We stayed in the Roosevelt room by the pool as the rooms with views in the house were booked. We loved the extra privacy and our "front porch" by the pool. The pool is beautiful - I loved spending Christmas day there. My husband tells me he saw the sunrise each morning and we both enjoyed the sunset from their pier each night. The staff is very thoughtful and attentive. The breakfasts were delightful. It was great to be so close to all the restaurants and shops. It is the perfect location. You could not ask for a more beautiful and charming place to stay. The service was great, the rooms were clean. Look at the pictures - trust me, this is where you want to be!

Room Tip: The "cabana" Roosevelt room was quiet and gave us a lot of privacy. I think it may be a li...

Everything was perfect. The room was extremely clean, well-maintained, and beautiful. The view is unparalleled by any other place I've stayed in Key West... and I frequent the island. The breakfast provided was healthy and the coffee of a quality roast. All the locals seemed to vie to hang out at the private waterfront pool and outdoor bar... so you know you're at the right spot! The waterfront hammocks were the icing on the cake for relaxation & serenity. The staff could not have been more helpful and courteous. The Innkeeper even went to the trouble to write us a personalized note & delivered a small gift to our room on Christmas Eve like Santa himself. Thank you SO MUCH Miss Nina. You really made the stay special and made us feel like a part of the family. The house speaks for itself in beauty and historical elegance. I won't stay anywhere else in Key West after this amazing experience!

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor facing the pool and ocean. I think that view is bomber no matter which...

We are currently finishing up our second trip to Key West. Last time we stayed at the Dewey Guest house across the street. Since we could not stay the 5 day minimum required we gave Southernmost a shot.

I am glad we did. I loved the Southernmost hotel grounds, but this is just as good if not better. The people working here were great, the pool is great and the rooms were great. We stayed in room 107 on the first floor. It is directly beside the breakfast area but it did not affect us in the morning noise wise.

If we are lucky enough to swing another trip in the near future we will be coming here.

Room Tip: If you worry about privacy get a room on the second or third floor. If you want very easy access t...
