Just got back from Key West. Our stay at the Southernmost was exactly what we had expected. Yes, it is older but that is part of the charm. We arrived a little early but our room was ready. Next door is the Southernmost Cafe so we went over and had a great lunch and then back to the pool. The pool was warm but not too warm and there was always a chair to be had--not sure why someone said they were brittle--didn't experience that. At night, our room was extremely cool--sometimes too much but with 90+ outside who is complaining! Street noise woke us up--after all we are on the same street as the southernmost buoy--but who wants to sleep in when there is so much to do! Went for my morning walk along Higgs and Smathers beach to White street pier--not too far from the hotel. Came back for breakfast which was filled with fresh fruit and yogurt as well as coffee which is exactly what I was looking for. My husband would get a sandwich at the breakfast stand a block away(not a fruit and yogurt guy) and we would then sit outside by the water and eat--very relaxing. Every day there was a nonalcoholic mimosa decanter if you needed a little drink later in the day or go right to the bar! There is also a refrigerator in your room so we bought some beer and just drank that by the pool. The hammocks were a nice place to take a nap or to cool off under the shady palm trees. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
