My husband and I had a blast traveling on the Yankee Freedom III to Fort Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas. The boat is beautiful with lots of seating and is the newest boat at only a few months old. The boat has lots of seats, food, and bathrooms. Breakfast of fruit, sliced ham, cereal, yogurt, bagels and juices are included and sandwitches and chips for lunch. Snorkel equiptment included too but we had our own. The ride was rough out there for some due to high winds so go ahead early and give in and take nausea medication or go outside. The crew is very helpful and you don't want to ruin your trip by being stubborn and not letting someone help you. The fort is huge and beautiful. Take the tour for only one hour... you will still have plenty of time to snorkel and lay out. On the way back make sure to fill out comment cards... mine was the winner in the drawing and we get a free trip back this year! Thanks for the great trip,,, I highly recommend going! Fun for all ages.

My husband and I took this tour today and it is a sight that you should not miss if you have the time and the money. The food was good for a tour (you might want to bring your own cup for coffee as they ran out of cups). The staff was fair to friendly and very informative about the fort. A couple of tips--the snorkeling was spotty. You can do it, but we saw FAR more fish from the dock. Walking around on the beaches is more rewarding and take another snorkeling trip if you want to snorkel or if you are a first timer. The second tip--if you get seasick easily, take Dramamine before you go. We hit some choppy seas on the way out and it was hard for many. The ride back was far better. In summary, this is worth it for the sights and to see a piece of history.

It's pricey but the day trip to the Dry Tortugas is fascinating and includes snorkeling equipment, as well as breakfast and lunch. It can get choppy on the open water so be prepared for possible seasickness. The Fort Jefferson tour with Chelsea was animated and interesting. It's a very unique place to visit.

My husband and I just completed a two night camping trip at the Dry Tortugas via the Yankee Freedom III. We enjoyed it immensely. The crew of the Yankee Freedom III was very friendly and helpful! The crew made it EASY to load and unload our camping gear and our kayak. My husband experiences motion sickness so he suggests that if you experience motion sickness be sure to take Dramamine just prior to your trip. We did not eat breakfast on the trip out but did eat lunch on board each day of our stay (one of the days was at no extra charge). The park rangers were very helpful and knowledgeable as was our tour guide for Fort Jefferson (a Yankee Freedom employee).

For some the price might be steep but I would highly recommed it if you are looking to do some great snorkeling. The fort was interesting but we enjoyed the snorkeling the most. It was like swimming in a big, beautiful fish tank. You can swim to the buoys on the beach to the left. Pick the one that lines up to the lighthouse in the far distance. I would recommend the two sets of pilings. Not much of a swim and breathtaking!! We swam to the buoys and did the pilings. Wish we would have spent more of our time at the pilings and not swimming to the buoys! Worth every penny and would definitely do it again!!!
