IF YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR BABY PUPPY TO KEY WEST:

First off, stop being so selfish. There are no dog museums or bars and very soon hardly and dog friendly restaurants in Key West. They deserve to have fun in Paradise as well. Find it on the map, right next to Louie's Backyard (hell of a spot). Sometimes hippie kids just kind of chill there, but they're not the ask you for your money type but rather the pet your cute little baby puppy type. The beach is a true beach of the Keys with no added, imported sand (the only true beach on Key West Island is at the Reach, right next door). But in its own way, it is beautiful. The true beach of the keys are a blast for dogs to run, away from splashing waves approaching. Shoot, toss pooch in, you won't get wet! The natural beach is a rocky tidal zone.. Bring the kids and those dorky water shoes you people from up north who never swim in the ocean always buy last minute! THIS IS the spot to use those! This is a nice spot, park politly somewhere in the surrounding neighborhood. No real parking. Your dog will thank you.

Yes, it's small, tucked away next to a fancy restaurant overlooking the water. But, it's good for the dogs and frankly, do you really want to be chasing your dog all over a gigantic beach? Our dog loved it, and it helped him get some energy out and he left us alone the rest of the night - let's be realistic, that's what you're after right? ;)

When we got there, it was hard to believe the sliver of sand we were looking at was the Dog Beach. There was one other dog there, so we stayed. We noticed that there was some dog poop there, so we stayed away from that. The small beach quickly became crowded and a guy showed up with a Pit Bull that immediately started harassing the kids and other dogs. We packed up and left. We won't be going back.

Lovely little beach to take the dogs, also good for a swim as the sea is very quiet here
