We stayed here only one night, using Starwood Preferred Guest reward points for the stay. As a Gold member, I asked for a late checkout of 4 p.m. but was only granted until 2 p.m. which worked out fine anyway. We had a very large, upgraded "junior-suite" type room on the top floor with a view of the cruise ships docked. Room was very pleasant, perhaps a bit under-decorated for such a cavernous space.

Hotel was very welcoming to us and our dog. Enjoyed walking around the hotel area with the dog into the lovely historic residential area just adjacent. Ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel restaurant outside with dog alongside the dock. Food quality, service and price impressed me--very good meals, decent price for Key West and in a hotel. I think Sheraton's (another Starwood brand) motto is something like "You belong" but I would say that after only a day at the Westin, we felt like we belonged there and were very comfortable and at-home feeling. It was a refreshing change from the Palm Beach area.

Would have loved to have stayed an extra night or two, so we will likely return next winter and won't hesitate considering the Westin again next time.

Thank you for your review. We love that our guests are able to bring along their dogs (under 40 pounds) on their family vacation. They are part of the family, after all! And it sounds like you felt like part of our Westin family by the time you left. Please come back and visit again soon, with pooch in tow.

We have actually stayed at this hotel a number of times and it is the BEST in Key West.....Not only is it IDEALLY located next to Duval street, there is a great restuarant (Bistro 254), a nice pool and hot tub with a great bar. Also, you are next to Mallory Square where you can take in the MOST AWESOME sunset you will probably ever see...I will post pics as well. There are many shops around the hotel as well as access to all watersports....the concierge is the best, be sure to drop by the desk and ask the ladies where to dine as they have many coupons for things like yes...drum roll please....a complimentary bottle of wine at the Grand restuarant on Duval.
The only thing I will say that could be improved is the fitness centre...its a bit sparse with regards to weights,....all of their treadmills and elliptical (5 of them I think) are in good working order, but there is one workout bench and 1 set of free weights in the weightroom section.
Other than that, I think this is the best place to be in Key West...OH, and one other thing....after a nite of HEAVY partying, (if thats your thing), there is no worry abt having to drive home, or take a cab, or catch a hotel shuttle....you can just walk to your room.....AWESOME!!!!

Room tip: Ask for an oceanfront room to get the best views...ALL of the rooms r comfortable, the 2 bed suites are also awesome!

Location, location, location is always important, and you can't beat the Westin for being on the waterfront and within a short walk to Duval Street. And the staff is terrific! Jane Brannigan at the Concierge desk helped me fine the right restaurants for my clients, and the pool bar staff was a lot of fun. I would recommend this resort to anyone going to Key West for business and pleasure.

This location is perfect for watersports and walking to most sights in the historical section of Key West. The rooms aren't necessarily up to the same standards of other Westins that I've stayed in, but the location definitely made up for that. As other travelers have pointed out, at times the view is blocked by cruise ships, but they don't stay overnight. And also don't dock on weekends. So, for us the view was just fine in the ocean front rooms. We found maid service to be a bit inconsistent, but adequate. Also, most everyone we encountered working there was friendly and helpful.

The property was not at all what I expect from a Westin. Our room was outdated and in poor condition (see pictures). The ceiling had been patched, but not re-painted. There were actually holes in the bathroom wall where the toilet paper holder had been replaced, but the wall never repaired. I was shocked by the service. It was terrible. I witnessed the front office manager argue with a guest at the front desk (along with about 5 other couples). The situation could have been easily handled by someone with some basic service training, but instead it was an uncomfortable, embarrassing and poor start to our trip. The hotel should have been excellent and it was average at best. If you are used to staying at Starwood properties, then this one will surely disappoint.
