We ate two nights ago at the Hot Tin Roof in Key West, FL. The service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and the views were eye popping. Our server was from Slovakia and here attitude seemed to typify the attribute of other wait staff members, treating us with the utmost deference, watching to see if we looked up or needed anything, and basically being ready to make sure we had everything we needed. Granted, the restaurant wasn't busy that evening, since it was a week night, but I have the impression that not much would be different on a busy weekend night. We had the small plates, including scallop, hibachi mahi mahi, pork empanadas, pulled pork, and goat cheese spread. We also had salads, cream of broccoli soup, key lime pie and chocolate tartufo. The food was fresh, the flavors were bold, and the preparation was impeccable. The hibachi for the mahi mahi was delivered to the table, where we cooked the fish on skewers. The only complaint is with portion sizes, which were a bit small for a tapas style presentation, where one expects to have enough to share each plate with at least one other person. For example, we got only one scallop the first time we ordered that plate. The decor is dark wood paneling around floor to ceiling plate glass windows with views out of the harbor to the Northwest, a fantastic location to admire the sunset. Highly recommended.
