My husband and I were looking for a small place to rent for a week that had all of the following amenities: wi fi, bedroom, private entrance, security, kitchen and living room. We found this at Authors of Key West Guesthouse. This privately owned guesthouse has some rooms with bathrooms, but it also has 2 separate cottages on the facility to rent. We chose to rent one of the cottages. It had our own front porch that we could sit out on at night to enjoy a glass of wine. There is a small pool/hot tub on location. The building has lovely small garden area, and they serve free light breakfast every morning. It is right in the middle of Old Town, and only a few blocks from Key West Cemetery. We felt safe knowing that the parameter of the facility was locked up at night so that no one could get into the area without the appropriate keys.

We ejnoyed our stay here very much, and we'd definitely consder coming back again and choosing to stay at Authors of Key West Guesthouse. The staff was very friendly, and very helpful. There is even a place inside to park your rental bikes if you choose to rent bikes. We were able to park our car right out in front of the facility with no problems.

This is not a fancy hotel like facilty. it has a summer cottage feel to it. So don't expect luxury, but do expect to feel comfortable. There are not a lot of units so it is a quiet place, and I liked that very much. They also have a resident cat, Callie that lives on premisis. We enjoy her company every morning when she greeted us at our door.

I have recently returned from a 2 night stay at authors guest house, key west. It is a pleasant, quirky, authentic little guest house and the service we received from the staff was second to none. We stayed in the library room which was nice, clean and comfortable. If I were to split hairs I'd say it could get a little noisy with road noise however it's a small price to pay for such lovely place to stay. Breakfast was basic but kept us going until lunch. It is within walking distance ( 20 mins ) to Duval St and all other points of interest, so location is great. We also tried out the small but lovely jacuzzi, great end to a busy day. Finally the service we received from the concierge Tippi when seeking advice was fabulous. She made us feel so welcome, within minutes we were chatting like old friends. After my 2 week stay in various places within the USA, I think she was probably the friendliest person I met.
So I would definitely recommend staying here, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Found this place on a whim - got a great walk-in rate, the room we stayed in was comfortable and clean, the pool was heavenly, the owner was very helpful and friendly. Didn't appreciate the canned fruit with the continental breakfast (especially being in Key West!), but everything else was wonderful.

My fiancee and I really enjoyed staying at Authors during our Key West vacation. We stayed at the Hemingway room, which was a beautiful and spacious stand-alone bungalow. The place was nicely decorated (especially if you like Hemingway) and clean, with a kitchen, full living area, and a separate full bedroom. In addition there was a heated jacuzzi on site. The only minor drawback is that it is a little further away from downtown Key West, which is only a 30 minute walk away through a charming part of the city. Great place to stay and highly recommended.

I was there with my wife and had the pleasure to meet the nice Tippy, she was extremely kind and full of nice suggestions about what to do, where to go, and moreover she is incredibly funny!
I didn't have the chance to greet her in person when i left, so this is the right time to say TIPPY THANK YOU VERY MUCH and see you next time!
The B&B is a quiet place, far from noises of Duval Street, but olan to use car to reach the city center if u feel tired after a day of strolls and/or beach.
Breakfast is a self service small breakfast in the tropical garden, nothing exceptional, but useful to turn up ur gears lol
rooms are clean and everyone there is very very kind and professional.
Dont' worry if u plan a late check in, they will let u find everything ready
My rating? 4 stars for the place, 5 stars for Tippy!!

We stayed here at the end of February, and couldn't have been happier. The staff were friendly and helpful, from the reservation to the check out. They even went the extra step, getting my friend's shoes to him that he accidentally left behind. We had the Tennessee Williams cottage, which was very comfortable, romantic, and cozy. It was in a quiet location, away from Duval street, but which we still accessed easily by renting bikes.

We stayed here for 5 nights this month. It is located right on the border of the old Key West and new Key West. The advantage of that is it is a bit quieter and closer to the Publix grocery store (nice salad bar) in new Key West, allowing us to get food without having to pay Duvall Street prices for every meal. We stayed in the McCullers room. It was small, only enough room for a bed, TV, small closet, bath and fridge, but adequate. The room was sheltered from the road traffic noise, plus it's own sitting area outside. The breakfast consisted of bagels, tea, coffee, fruit and yogurt, which we enjoyed. Purified water and a place to lock your bike were bonuses. It could use some updates, but nothing major. Overall, thumbs up.
