Nice location, but food was just average and overpriced. We had reservations for a party of 11 and got stuck in a corner with not much room to move and had a couple of people sitting on the corners of the table. Drinks were overpriced. Service was mediocre.

A & B Lobster House has the reputation as of being one of the best restaurants for a nice evening out in Key West. Locals know the "downstairs' is good and more moderately priced but, for an expensive but special evening, go upstairs. Having eaten downstairs on several occasions (we have family in Key West and return "home" frequently) we decided to take some friends out for a special treat as a thank you for their help. Yes, the atmosphere was better than downstairs and the tables were set for multiple courses but that is where, in my opinion, the specialness ended.
Our waitress was friendly and our food came out in a timely manner. She appeared completely on her own. At no time were our water glasses refilled nor were we checked on more than once or twice, once it was established that our food had arrived. We had to ask for silverware for one place setting and finally, at the end of the meal, were able to get a water refill. Our bill for four adults with two cocktails, one glass of wine , four entrees and two deserts was $300,....portions were adequate (filet was very small but good..not outstanding, seafood good but nothing exceptional). I hope this was an evening that they were just short staffed. We won't spend the extra $ to go "upstairs" again. Have heard wonderful things....may have missed the outstanding menu items? Maybe our expectations are higher in the Carolinas.

At happy hour, the left side of the menu is 1/2 proce, but you have to ask about it. If you are a spring breaker, you will probably have paid full price - ha! We had peal-and-eat spricy cold shrimp, onion rings, calamari, and a few picyures of beer. The outside seating overlooking the marina is best. Stay downstairs as the upstairs is more upscale and not worth the price difference. We learned about this from a local bartender and always make a stop when we are here in the spring. It is fun to watch the people amble by on the adjacent boardwalk. Get there early (b4 5:00 pm) and enjoy happy hour through 6:30 pm.

Food was very good and the location is fantastic overlooking the harbor. We sat outside and had a wonderful table. Only negative is that our waiter was less than enthusiastic when we didn't order appertizers or drinks and not very attentive. But after a day of enjoying downtown we just wanted entrees. It's an up scale restaurant with good food.
