Could someone please explain how the best falafel on the east coast is in Key West Florida. Despite being both kosher and a non-meat eater, when in Key West I do not feel at all limited in my options. Three trips to KW and with takeout from Mam's every night for dinner I am a happy and well fed traveler.
Don't miss the Mediterranean Eggplant Delight sandwich - everything tasty in one stuffed sandwich. And if you really want to feel stuffed, go for that world class falafel platter! Yum!

This open air little place offered us a nice place to stop and relax while playing tourist in Key West. There are 2 tables under umbrellas and a counter with about 4 seats. One person, presumably Mam, is cooking all orders. We had to wait a bit before our order was even taken. Each party gets taken care of one at a time. No rushing. But it was well worth the wait. Best felafel this side of Tel Aviv.

This little kosher mom & pop, garage/patio spot tucked into a mostly residential block, is perfect for brunch/lunch for a party of 4 or less. It is NOT fast food - but a darling little place to take a respite from activity and refuel.

The middle aged, middle eastern woman, working mostly by herself on the day we visited, was preparing all the food to order. The bicycle delivery boy was transporting plenty of food and there were 5 of us brunching on location. Although somewhat frazzled, she maintained her sense of humor and quality of preparation - she and her food were delightful.

We sampled many items, including her famous falafel. Crispy and golden on the outside -moist, flavorful and emerald green on the inside. Sauces and salads were all tasty and fresh. So much so, we decided to fill the mini-fridge at our guesthouse with beach picnic food for the next couple of days.

Prices and portions are perfect. Menu is full of options for every dietary preference. Definitely recommend for everyone looking for a healthful, affordable and soulful experience, off the beaten path.

We stopped here on a Friday morning and ordered food to bring back for Shabbos. We had the schnitzel which was delicious. We were going to order a beef, but the owner said it would not heat well.
The meatballs and the chicken marinated in OJ, was very tasty.
The portions are a good size.
We were told that her falafel is the best but we did not have any as we were full from breakfast.

We had several meals at Mam's and the food was excellent!
Since we keep kosher it is not unusual to for us to have to take food with us especially when we travel to a small city and here is this tiny restaurant, actually a normal kitchen with the door open and only two tables outside. If you didn't know that it was there, you would certainly miss it.
One lady does everything; cooking, serving etc. therefore, you imagine that it will take forever to get your food--wrong! We sat at one table, four people at the other who arrived at about the same time as we did and a man sitting at a sort of bar with two stools. It didn't look like a
commercial stove or anything, just a little kitchen, smaller than most homes.
It was magic, we didn't know how she did it but we didn't have to wait very long for the food and the fact that it is kosher is secondary, not fancy but delicious. One wouldn't have to be kosher to enjoy it. We were extremely happy with our meals and even went back the next day.
I'm guessing that they do a huge take out and delivery business because as we sat there, some people picked up and several guys on bikes were doing the deliveries.
The food would probably be classified as middle-eastern but I'm sure that anyone could find something that they would like. Not very much room for people but it could be delivered for a family.
