“Great volunteers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

A quick little tour of the oldest home in Key West. Volunteers load you up with information about the original owners of the home and the how and why Key West became such an important port.
Volunteers were very informative and were great story tellers!

“hidden treasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Lovely grounds with benches to sit on. Interesting little 1820s home with many original family furnishings. The gentleman who sold us our ticket also answered our questions and gave us a little tour of the home. He was very knowledgeable about the family and everything in the home as well as Key West history. This free attraction was a great respite from the crowded sidewalks of Duval and worth a visit if you like history.

“A nice break on busy Duval Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

This is a free museum (they accept donations) right on Duval St. It is a beautiful old home with a cookhouse and garden area in the back. It's a quiet spot where you can enjoy shade and see how the old homes were built in Key West. Quite a nice break from shopping and crowds.

“Engaging in a variety of ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The come-on out front is really corny and continues inside in a more informative manner. But the overall is good. Lots of information on wreckers and their work if you take the time to read the exhibits and view the videos. Even the guys making changes to the exhibit initiated conversation. Don't forget the film downstairs. And the view from the tower is fine. Too bad it's not open til sunset. The $12 admission is much more worth it than spending $4.75 for a Key Lime float (one small scoop ice cream and cheap lime drink) at the ice cream/juice stand 15 feet away.
