“In the heart of Old Town but perfectly off the beaten path”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

I stayed in the Mango Hideaway, which is part of the cottage around the corner from the main Inn and the craziness of Duval Street. The separate entrance and enclosed deck give the Hideaway a surprising degree of privacy, especially considering that it's a stone's throw from Duval. The location made it just as easy to be in the mix as to get away from it, so I'd choose it again for that reason if nothing else. But there are also other reasons to stay there: the room was very well-kept, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom is large (slightly dated in some ways, which seems to have bothered other reviewers but didn't faze me--I care more that it's kept clean, which it was). Andrews does a nice job with breakfast, given the regulations that limit what B&Bs can serve their guests. I went to the hotel's complimentary happy hour twice while I was there and found it more than adequate. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and unfailingly attentive, from my first phone call to my departure. I know Key West has many lodging choices, but it's hard to imagine that many offer a better combination of comfort, location and amenities (at this price point) than the Andrews.

Room Tip: The Mango Hideaway offers a lot of privacy for the location.

I cannot say enough nice things about this Inn and the people working there. The staff was extremely helpful. Lisa checked us in and showed us around and made sure that every question we had was answered. We stayed in the Roma room and it was extremely clean and is exactly what you want when you know that your not going to be in the room very much. My parents joined us later in the trip and we got to see the Treetop Cottage and the Paris room. The Treetop Cottage is wonderful, with a wide open room, a small kitchen, and a private deck with a hot tub. The Paris room is smaller than the Roma room but is just as effective for what you need. (Sleeping, showers, etc...)The Inn is located just off Duval street but you cannot hear any of the hustle and bustle of Duval when you are just sitting by the pool or in your room. The pool isn't very big but is nice to just have a small dip to cool off if you want. The complimentary cocktail hour is a very nice touch, a perfect way to start off your evening. There are multiple cats that roam the property and are free to come and go as they please, they mostly just lay around and sleep, but don't worry even if you don't like cats they wont bother you. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is traveling to Key West because I WILL definitely be back. (We stayed Jan. 3rd-8th)

Room Tip: Roma and Treetop Cottage were wonderful.

A disappointing, cramped, funky place. Arrived via an extremely unwelcoming alley entry with dilapidated houses, many garbage cans, weeds and tightly parked cars, and I immediately felt I'd made a bad choice for our 3-night stay. Inside the inn property gate is a small concrete patio around a tiny keyhole-shaped pool. On one side of the patio is a small office, an outdoor serving table used for complementary happy hours and breakfast buffets, and a small poorly lit, rather shabby kitchen. The patio area and pool always had dead leaves and debris from overhead trees, as well as several (4-6) cats. The patio tables and chairs were used regularly by guests, and sInce our room faced the patio at ground level, we had to keep the glass door curtains closed for privacy. We ate breakfast on the porch outside our room, which was okay, except for the cats, which were bothersome.

Our small room was mostly filled by the queen bed. My luggage had to be on closet floor, where there was no lighting, and after 3 nights, this got old. The bed was too soft and not triple-sheeted to cover the top blanket, which may or may not be washed between guests. One bedside table was a fridge-- adequate surface, but unesthetic. Bed lights on both sides worked well. Bathroom was clean, appeared to be recently updated with adequately sized stone sink counter and an attractive wooden cupboard with ample storage space. The shower/tub entry was awkward after adjusting water temp, because the end of the tub is edged by the counter. The bathroom door had to be slammed to be closed....a problem during the night. Room ventilation required the ceiling fan to be on constantly, only one tiny window could be opened -in the bathroom.

We had trouble signing on to the wifi--perhaps from a weak signal.
Location off main tourist street is handy for a first-time visit....but we got tired of the street, tourists and t-shirt shops every other door. We were received by Lisa, who gave us good dinner ideas. A man who was there on other days never introduced himself, greeted us nor checked to see if we were settled, though he responded quickly to requests. In sum, this place didn't have enough polish or appeal for my tastes.

We're sorry that Andrews Inn and Key West were disappointing to you. Visitors to Key West usually come for the history and the funky, laid-back charm of Old Town, which is a welcome retreat from the newer, more polished, cookie-cutter hotels in the other Florida resort towns.

Our off-the-beaten-path location does require guests to arrive via a small lane. Unfortunately, GPS devices will lead you to our rear entrance which is how you arrived. We provide directions to our front entrance with every confirmation and those who follow them will be pleasantly surprised to arrive at our free off-street parking lot, a rare find in Key West. This lane provides a pleasant buffer between the sights and sounds of Duval St., while only being a short walk away.

While we realize everyone’s tastes and needs are different, we believe that Andrews Inn provides a broad array of reasonably-priced accommodation choices . Fortunately, most of our customers agree, and we regret that you were not one of them.

Enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend the inn. Tom was especially helpful when we called to reserve rooms at a late date. Excellent location, yet hidden away and very relaxing pool area. All rooms different with lots of KW charm. Try it!

Room Tip: We have stayed in the main inn and also guest cottage. Both were excellent.

Rented sailor cottage for one night with my adult sons. The cottage was about a block away from the inn. The sailor house was huge...1600 sq ft. Beautiful cottage in central location. Loved sitting on the second floor balcony. Two very comfortable bedrooms upstairs and huge living room and dining area on the ground floor. We cooked out on the grill and relaxed in the hot tub. At night we walked to the entertainment center on Duval st. Overall it was great and my family had a great time. Next time we hope to rent the cottage for a longer stay.

We just came back from a stay at Andrews. We have stayed in many places in Key West and have enjoyed them but the hospitality here is superb. Many of the homes in KW are separate from the "main " house and we were which is always a bit strange but when you stay in KW, this is expected. We had a very nice room..more room then the 2 of us needed but so clean, organized and quiet. The happy hour is such a pleasant surprise which we enjoyed a couple times. Pool is excellent compared to others. Our bed was comfortable, very clean as well as the hot tub, deck area. We were pleased with it all! Thanks again to a great staff for giving us such relaxation along with beauty and fun!
