This place is ok and comfortable. I'm not a B&B kind of guy because I travel so much for work I like the little extras when on vacation. I hate to say it, only because I expect it not because its the best thing to say, but the room was clean. The staff was nice and the atmosphere laid back. Met some nice guys there.

Room Tip: Stay towards the center of the property 2nd floor or higher.

The Island house used to be the best gay place to stay in Key West but its become a little old and tired. Gets a little seedy with all the Day Passers too.
But when I couldn't get in there for a last minute weekend we tried the Equator for the first time and I'm soooo glad Island House was sold out!
The Equator is beautiful and the staff is great. Loved the afternoon free happy hour. There are 2 salt pools and a hot tub.
Very clean and well cared for...This is now my new favorite place in Key West!

Room Tip: Poolside are the best.

One of the last few all-male resorts in Key West, this resort was far enough away from Duval Street to be very quiet, but close enough to be within walking distance. The rooms were well appointed and the staff went above and beyond to attend your every need. Happy Hour is not to be missed and as with all bed and breakfasts, you meet wonderful people during your stay.

Room Tip: Get a room with a deck not overlooking Flemming Street.

My partner and I decided on a long weekend get-away to Key West and stayed three nights at the Equator on Fleming Street a couple of long blocks away from Duval Street (Main street, in old town, Key West). Our experience at the Equator was fantastic! Our room was excellent, clean and comfortable, although the shower was a bit small. We had a very comfortable King bed. Our room, 42, was just off the pool. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Each mornings continental breakfast was provided and early evening a cocktail reception was provided each day. This is one of the few "all Gay men's resorts left in Key West". There are two others in Key West, and then two other LBGT (both men & women) resorts. The Equator had two nice pools, and a hot tub. I enjoyed swimming "au natural" as did most of the other guests, a few did swim with trunks on. There was no pressure to swim either way. For us it was a totally relaxing, romantic long weekend.
There were more European guests during our stay than Americans and that added to the ambiance of the establishment.
If and when we return to Key West we would stay here again.

Visited this resort after more than a decade since my last visit to Key West. This resort was incredibly clean with outside painting being done as part of the maintenance of the beautiful buildings.
The staff was friendly, accommodating and welcoming.
The continental breakfast was bigger than most and the daily happy hour was a wonderful way to meet people.
This will become my new weekend getaway.

I travel to Key West several timer per year and usually stay at The Island House. They were booked so called Equator on a recommendation from IH staff. Equators friendly and helpful phone staff walked me thru the room options. Ended with a pool view, second floor with balcony. Nice size, and at half of what I would have expected to pay at other properties friendly staff and a nice group of guys made it a great weekend getaway

Had a great time meeting a whole bunch of fun, friendly folks. Rooms are good if you get the renovated ones. Happy hour is fun. Quick walk to Island House or Duval street, and plenty of food options nearby, including a health food restaurant, drug store, small supermarket.
Most folks brought liquor and mixers, which you can bring to the pool areas (ice provided).
Pools are fun, but one looked like the filter wasn't working.
The place could use continued upgrading, and they are working on that, but for the price this my favorite place since it's all male and more relaxing than Island House. Alexanders is much nicer but seems more quiet/couple oriented.
Management did not offer me a discount if I booked again for a return trip, which I thought was unfortunate. Staff is friendly, but laid back and low key. They suggest a 10% gratuity on your total bill when leaving which I personally think is way too steep, but you can leave what you want.
Overall a very relaxing and fun vacation. Was sorry to leave on my fourth day.

Room Tip: Some rooms are renovated, some are not. Good to ask before booking.
