“Never go to Key West”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

The property is very nice with great views and location. There are no handicapped elevators or walks. Smoking is o.k. anywhere so plan on gaging.
Key west is not visitor friendly. Plan on a speeding ticket, crooked lawyers and police out to make their city a buck. This is our 7th year and last. Hawaii, for us, takes the same time to get there, much nicer ocean and a very visitor friendly atmosphere.
We love this resort, but will never return. This review has less to do with this property as it does the key west area.

Room Tip: Go to another state!

Wow, what a nice resort with great location! Stayed here for 3 nites in February 2013.
Pro’s>>> very friendly staff, great location on quiet side of island (SW), close to public beach with nice sand and decent snorkeling, restaurant and bar on property very nice, walking distance to other side of island (popular area, shops and Mallory Square) 15 minute walk, Nice Very warm pool with waterfall and perfect clean hot tub big enough for 10, shower by pool to rinse off salt water…clean room with hard floors and very nice showers. We stayed street side for about half price of ocean view, but very quiet and totally worth it, housekeeping was great and every day we got fresh towels for the pool too.
Cons>>>Wi Fi was nonexistent in our room … I checked on my laptop and brand new Galaxy S3’s… nada. So we went to the front desk and the gentlemen there told us, basically it only worked near the lobby. I asked him why they advertise free wifi then??? He said the whole island was that way (no wifi)… I didn’t appreciate the fact that he must think I am that gullible/stupid… for most would realize that the island has nothing to do with how weak the resorts signal was… but whatever. I got this property also because of the beach; however when we went it had trash on it and was covered with seaweed… no attempts were made to clean it while we were there… which is really sad since it had a lot of potential. The public beach (Higgs Beach) to the east of the property by Casa Marina was cleaned and nice. I understand sand isn’t natural on Key West, however a little bit of attention every morning by the ground keeping staff would really pep this property up ;-)
All in all great stay, we are still contemplating if we will stay here again because of the wifi and beach condition, will follow reviews before next Key West visit and monitor progress before making that decision.

Room Tip: street side rooms were just a few steps away from seeing the ocean and really quiet.

A great location within walking distance of many local attractions and the famous Duval Street. You could not ask for a better ocean view/location as you are steps away. The new addition of two large gas grills makes it easy for a cookout of any kind. However, if you are looking for the amenities of a large resort such as in-house restaurant (Louie's Backyard is right next door), on location activities or fitness center this is not your choice. With live music a couple days for an hour poolside a fun time can be had by all. If you are looking for a smaller resort with loads of charm, clean units and a pleasant staff this is your spot.

This is our second time at Coconut Beach. I needed to complete some work and couldn't access a wireless connection with my work computer. George allowed me to use his office and his Ethernet connection so I could complete my work.

The renovations are great, kitchen looks good with all new appliances.

Great island location. Easy to get around and lots to do! If you're in the market for a timeshare...this is the one!

We visit Key West just about every year, and Coconut Beach has consistently been our favorite resort for lodging. We can compare against The Galleon, where we owned a unit for several years. While the Galleon is very good, I would describe Coconut Beach as "nearly perfect".

When you arrive, you'll immediately see that the pool and the beachfront are the picture-perfect focal point of the property. Key West is not known for its beaches, and while the sandy beach at Coconut Beach is small, it affords access to about 4,000 square yards of shallow (up to 5 feet), calm Gulf waters with sandy bottom -- no muck!

The lodging units are always well-kept, clean, and spacious. My only complaint might be that laundry (free to guests) is found in a common utility room, not in the guest quarters.

Room Tip: Rooms in the "B" building have the best views, in my opinion.

This is a charming, oceanfront hotel in Key West that's also very close to the action on the Wall Street. It's right next to Louie's back porch, which may be the best restaurant in Key West.
The rooms are clean, and the view is nice. There is a nice pool, hot tub, and a quaint little beach.
No bar, or food service of any sort. However Louies' Back Yard is right next door. Breakfast is a bigger problem. So you will have to walk over to Duval Street, which is a very pleasant walk.
So don't let the desk staff spoil your stay!

From the moment we pulled up to the resort, I knew that we made the right choice. We were greeted by a friendly staff that made it easy and carefree starting at the check in. The grounds were perfectly manicured and the rooms are newly renovated! We had a studio room that had "peek a boo" views of the ocean.... they called them pee a boo, we thought that was an understatement. Our room was facing the Casa Marina and the ocean. Both were fine for us! We have been to Key West several times in the past and have stayed at various hotels, but this is by far our favorite. The resort itself is quite a walk from the Duval Street madness, however, we enjoyed the walk to the Gulf side of the island. If you don't or can't make the walk, the cabs to "the other side" were under $7 a trip. I am glad we were in a quiet area this trip. The pool was nice and warm (maybe even a little too warm for my liking). The beach area was ok. But to be honest, we weren't there for beach/pool. We only tried them our for a short time. We highly recommend this resort/time share location. It far exceeded our expectations!

Room Tip: The rooms facing southeast had the best views! We were happy on the northeast facing side on a corn...
