“Great Donuts”

Title says it all, great donuts that were light, soft and still warm. I'm glad I don't live near there because I would be there all the time. The coffee was good too.

I had the Key West filled donut (Of course!) The donut was light and the filling was amazing! Even has a small merengue type topping!! (A bit pricey, but I am only eating one this year!) Next time, the chocolate lovers! Very good coffee, too!

“You'll find better doughnuts at the grocery store bakery”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Glazed Donuts has some different and interesting flavors, but the base doughnut if the problem. Chewy, not very tasty and too "commercial" looking. For a small operation you'd expect more of a homemade look and taste. But these doughnuts look like they're punched out by the thousands and made with cheap ingredients. I'll take the ones at Publix on Winn Dixie over these everyday

Thanks for the Heads up! I'm sorry your experience seven months ago wasn't as good as it should have been, and we agree the donuts were too chewy then.

You see with baking you really need to consistently follow the exact same recipe to learn about your dough, and we decided for better or worse we were going to stick with our original recipe for the first six months, in order to see how it fluctuated between the summer and winter, and with different levels of humidity. Since your visit in October of 2012 (it's now May of 2013) we have modified our starting recipe multiple times.

We learned allot about the influence of protein content and donut shelf life. We found that the "chewiness" was matter of protein/fat ratios as a result of using lots of fresh eggs. Since then we've learned to make a less enriched dough (less fat and protein), which results in a lighter crumb (texture), albeit at the expense of some richness. The result today is an insanely light donut thats great all day long, even after sitting around for six or seven hours (not that they ever do).

In regards to our donuts looking too "commercial" we take great pride in each of our donuts looking as close to alike as possible, to ensure a consistent experience. Sometimes our over analytical selves believe our donuts are too much like snowflakes:). So we appreciate that your experience was with one of consistency.

There are literally hundreds of variables that can throw things ever so slightly askew and ruin a batch, and on the extremely rare occasion a mistake does slip by. Its unfortunate that your review comes so long after your experience as it could have helped us when we were only 6 months old and still learning the ropes.

We hope this alleviates some of your concerns about Glazed.

We got a warm maple bacon and a blackberry doughnut. Both were fantastic. Great, quick breakfast. You won't be disappointed.
