this inn is number one in key west in our opinion, based on a recent four day stay.Best value and amenities
Beds are very comfortable, rooms are very charming and clean, house is worthwhile seeing by itself as it personifies the tropical experience and ambience while remaining only a short walk from all the restaurants and attractions of key west.
If you visit key west you absolutely should attempt to stay there.
Staff is very friendly and helpful while not intrusive, if you like dogs you will love the two beautiful good natured retreivers in residence there
We will definitely stay again and would recommend this inn to every visitor

Room Tip: Every room is a good one based on our lodging in two of the rooms, they have created a private and special place amongst the hubbub of key west For great photos visit their web page

My husband and I spent 3 wonderful days and nights at the M&A B&B. What an amazing staff, owners, doggies, and place!!! Can't say enough about this place! My husband is a French Chef - born, raised, and trained in France - and he LOVED the breakfasts each morning!!! Thanks so much for a wonderful time and lots of kisses and hugs to the girls Caya and Havanna!!! Kristina and Jean Lebrevelec

My wife and I just returned from three days at the Mermaid & the Alligator. What a great find! The house itself is both comfortable and beautiful while the grounds are a fantastic place to relax and totally unwind. We stayed in the Carribean Suite which was both tasteful and comfortable. The four poster bed was a comfortable place for a mid-afternoon nap or a great nights sleep. Breakfasts were well-prepared and served in the beauty of the backyard gardens. Rounding out our stay were the wonderful owners and staff. From owners Dean and Paul to the Concierge team of Jeri and Caroline, we felt welcomed and well cared for. It truly was like staying with good friends who took very good care of us. Oh, and I don't to forget the welcoming committee, Havana and Caya, the owners Flat Coat Labs who welcomed us and made us feel like part of the family. In short, beautiful setting, tremendous attention to detail and people who truly cared for our comfort and happiness made for a great stay. We will surely return to Key West if only to enjoy another few nights of heaven at the Mermaid and the Alligator.

Room Tip: Carribean Suite was wonderful but a little noisy on the front of the house. Next time we will try one of the other rooms.

my husband and i decided to spend our honeymoon in key west. we found this bed and breakfast on trip advisor and thought it looked wonderful after reading thru all the reviews.
we were right. we enjoyed every moment spent at the mermaid and the alligator.
dean, geri, and caroline were very helpful and kind. the dogs, caya and havana, were adorable. breakfast every morning was delicious. nothing beat the cappuccino chip muffins.
after a long day in key west, our room was spotless upon returning.
all in all, the mermaid and the alligator is the perfect spot to unwind and truly have a relaxing vacation in key west.

Room Tip: queen caribbean- absoutely wonderful. beautiul room, with a very nice hot tub. every little detail was so pretty. the veranda was amazing also. great view of truman ave. directly across from st. mary's church, only heard the church bells, traffic, and chickens when we opened the veranda door.
