Owner description: Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening 1st-run indie, foreign and documentary films and Hollywood blockbusters every day. With 4 theaters, state-of-the art projection services and the best concessions stand anywhere (we serve wine and beer and drizzle our popcorn with 100% melted butter), it's no wonder Florida Monthly magazine named Tropic Cinema "Florida's Best Cinema" for four consecutive years.

Spur of the moment decision to go watch a movie while walking down Duval. This place is so Old Hollywood and it is run mainly by volunteers. We watched the new Woody Allen movie and it was great. Tickets and concessions are reasonably-priced. It feels good contribute to an independently-owned cinema.

good 'old fashioned' Cinema - it has lots of small cosy cinemas once you are inside and they have different names. You can have ice cream, soft drinks, popcorn,or a glass of wine or beer. Outside is a lkife size model of Marilyn Monroe in the famous pose in her white dress over a hot air vent. Definitely worth a visit.

I had read so many good reviews on this cinema, so when we were in Key West and it was raining I couldn't wait to try it out. It's very clean inside and the theater we sat in only held about 20 people which makes it feel really intimate. They serve beer and wine which I love while i'm watching a movie, and I love that I got to watch an awesome documantary there about Orca whales- called Blackfish. If you have a chance to go to this cinema I definetly recommend it, it's super cool. Thanks!

Tropic Cinema is exactly what a movie theatre should be: there's the classic portraits of the Hollywood greats hanging on the walls, comfortable roomy seats in small theaters so you're never dealing with the crowded loud theaters of chain movie theatre companies, and the selection of food and drink... They douse their popcorn in real butter, none of this flavoring junk. And if you say I want the popcorn sopping in butter, you better bring a bunch of napkins because it will be exactly that: sopping. They have the normal array of fountain drinks along with bottled ice teas, Red Bull, lemonades, wine, and beer. And the food! A huge selection of candies, specialty sweets and even carrot cake. Want cheese and crackers? They offer a brie plate. Want chocolate covered espresso beans? No problem. The staff is a group of wonderful volunteers who are there because they love movies just as much as you do, and they'll make you feel welcome and comfortable. Now quit reading this and go enjoy the best movie experience of your life.
