“Hit or miss!”
Reviewed August 17, 2013 via mobile

Great location! Three short blocks from Duvall, one from 2 scooter shops, and secs. from 7 Fish restaurant...BUT you may experience a leak from the ceiling light fixture in bathroom that has been occurring so long, it corroded the fixture! OR you may get black dust on your feet from the dirty floors. I had to use a wear sandals around the room to keep my feet clean AFTER a shower!? OR you may have to squeeze you leg (I weigh 190 lbs) in between toilet and wall to use bathroom. OH, the bed looks like a King, but really its 2 full mattresses beneath!? Stay away from Room18 to avoid these conditions and request Room 31...trust me!

Good location, nice room with a four poster bed , pleasant staff, good restaurant recommendations, Seven Fish! It's an old house and you expect it to be a bit quirky which it is, we had a room that must have been the main entrance to one of the houses, the room was spacious, we had a verandah, both of where worried about the noise from the road outside which turned out not to be an issue. The continental breakfast is ample, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, coffee, OJ, yogurt.

Just simply a great place to stay close into all the action of Historic Key West and Duval street yet just far enough off to be able to relax away from all the crazy. Clean, good A/C, great staff, comfortable rooms and just an all around easy place to stay. Breakfast could have a bit more to it, but then again it's a continental so what do you expect? Would book here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Right off the pool with double access and quiet!

We were clueless about to stay down in Key west the first time we visited, choose the chelsea house, it was delightful and charming, this year went back down to key west and did not hesitate to book again in chelsea house, the staff was friendly and attentive, Geoff at the office was fast with the check in process and very helpful about things to do around the island and tours.Location is great just 2 blocks away from Duval close enough but quiet ...any type of eating out places around the area, even a CVS! We will probably stay down there again next year, will definately recommend this place to friends and family, See you soon Chelsea House!

Room Tip: Room G... great privacy near pool and breakfast area, also private.

We arrived late on a mid week evening without a booking in early June but unfortunately it has taken us a while to write this....and were met by Brian at the front desk. He could not have made us feel more welcome, first class customer service, was wonderful! We got a room for a few nights which was right beside reception which was very spacious and very clean. Just what we wanted at the end of a long beautiful drive from Miami. The following morning Betsy I believe she was called was also very helpful and made us reservations for water sports and activities around the island.
Breakfast was simple but adequate with beautiful surroundings and friendly staff and fellow guests.
Was really impressed by this place, can not say enough for how helpful and fun Brian was, a typical Paddy, jus like us! Thanks for a great stay guys, we'll be back!!!

I was really surprised by this hotel. It was my first time staying in a "Bed and Breakfast" and I loved it. At first, the set up was a little confusing since I had never been there but it is very easy to get used to. It was kept very clean and had good air conditioning, which matters in Florida in July. The front desk staff was very helpful and pointed out some things to do, but since I had been to Key West many times before I already had heard everything they said to do. Prices for rooms really aren't bad. The trip from the hotel to Duval Street looks alot farther on a map, but in all actuality it was a quick 5 minute walk. Close enough to it, but far away from the loud nightlife so you can sleep at night. Me and my friend had booked the economy queen room, and it was perfect for us. Only a few downfalls: 1.) No microwave or mini fridge in these rooms. Luckily, we brought a cooler. and Secondly, When taking luggage to room, there are stairs everywhere, and people by the pool had a tendency to watch us struggle with getting everything in and out of our room.and Lastly, the fan in the room made weird noises every time it spinned around, which kept a pounding migraine that I already had keep on pounding. Parking lots were great! Free parking in Key West is always a good thing. Definitely will be returning here for next Key West vacation. Highly recommend it!

The property was clean and charming - it fits in with the houses and inns around it. Front desk staff was personable, but not overtly so. We were upgraded to a different (bigger room), which had a queen bed, flat panel TV and small bathroom. While clean, the bed was like sleeping on a wooden plank (and squeaked like a rickety bunk bed), the bathroom had tiles missing from the floors (I stubbed a toe on this at night) and the wood floor had some sag in it on one side of the room. The pool area and gardens are nice and quiet. Continental breakfast is sparse, with few choices - don't look for this to substitute for a good breakfast - this is more like a light snack before you leave. The location is convenient to Duval and other points on the south side of the island.

Overall, I feel as if this was not a great value for your money, but you could do worse on this island.
