Owner description: The Key West Wildlife Center is a small non-profit wildlife rescue and rehabilitation facility. We have a tiny clinic that treats injured wildlife. Our main focus is rehabilitating native birds and returning them to the wild. We are not a zoo. Our state and federal permits require that our avian patients be screened from public view while they are rehabilitating in our clinic and aviaries. We do have a very small number of educational abassadors that the public can see. We are located in the City of Key West Indigenous Park which is kept wild to attract many types of migratory raptors, shorebirds, warblers and songbirds. The Indigenous Park is a major birding spot and important greenspace. We are open every day of the week except Wednesday from 9-5. Admission is free but we always accept donations to help support our clinic and aviaries. Thanks for visiting and helping to support our mission of wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release!

This was a between here and there stop with local friends that wanted to show us. It is good to know these animals have a safe place to be and cared for. The enclosures are large and the people there are friendly. The turtle pond was nice as all the turtles came expecting to be fed! There were iguanas all over the place but the only place in Key West that we saw them! It was a nice off-the-beaten-path place to find out about!

The Wildlife Center is definitely a must see! The care that the amazing staff provide for Key West's wildlife is always inspiring! Even if you're not a huge 'wildlife person', you have to check out the Turtle Pond here- it's a remote little area amongst a variety of Key West's native plants that provides some welcome peace and quiet and shade!! A huge thank you to everyone who supports the KWWC! Thank you for all that you do for Key West and it's wildlife!! :)

The wildlife center is very rundown. I am sure this is due to lack of funding. The animal cages were sad and in much needed repair. It didn't cost anything to get in, so there was no feeling that we lost money going though this attraction. If you go to this attraction make sure to walk back to the turtle pond. We were amused at how when the turtles hear you coming they all run and hide in the pond, then they keep sticking their heads up out of the water to see if you have left.

The Key West Wildlife Center is a "must see" when visiting Key West. We were able to view the bird hospital which cares for birds and other wildlife as well. We saw birds, some rehabbing for the eventual return to the wild and others due to their injuries will remain permanent members of the center, safe and well cared for. The wildlife center is located on beautiful property with native plants, a pond and quiet areas to sit and ponder...

An amazing effort that supports the abundant and diverse wildlife that thrives in Key West. An ever changing cast of "characters" as wildlife is rescued and rehabilitated. The stories they tell are always more than meets the eye...like most everything in Key West!
