“Fantastic!!!”
Reviewed December 19, 2011

We just spent a week at this resort (did a timeshare exchange) and couldn't have had a better time. The landscaping at the resort is simply gorgeous! While the room is starting to show a little wear it was very comfortable. Viewed sunrises in the morning from our balcony and sunsets at Mallory Square! Key West has so much to offer! I am glad that we didn't stay right downtown with all the activity and this resort is a short drive from there. There was a lot of airport noise as the Key West International airport is within walking distance so the planes took off and landed very close by. We also watched the fighter jets fly over on a regular basis which was way louder!!! The staff was wonderful and very friendly and accommodating. I hope we can go back some day!
I highly recommend the eco kayaking tour with Jeff & George. Also a +++ is Lloyd's bike tour!! Commotion on the Ocean (Fury) was a great sunset cruise.

We had 2nd floor unit in bldg#2 overlooking pool and ocean. 2BR/2baths. Beautifully landscaped, well maintained with lots of nooks to sit in swing, hammock or chairs. Pool does not seem child friendly (but we saw no children, mostly retired folks.). Lovely pair of iguanas! Plenty of lounge chairs. Margarita party with raffle one PM, wine tasting another day. We attended breakfast with vendors and prizes Mon.AM. Many water sports and bike tour; at our age we do not speedboat or snorkel but we did take the Wine &Wind 2-hr sailboat cruise at sunset. It was one of the most memorable things we have done on vacations. Beautiful weather most of week, smooth water.
Unit was very roomy for the 2 of us. Master BR:king bed, lots of pillows, the usual hot heavy annoying duvet that we replaced with blanket, safe, plenty of hangers. Nice color scheme throughout, not just plain white walls. Master bath 2 sinks and whirlpool tub, lots of lighting and counter space. Kitchen: full refrig, dishwasher, microwave, good quality dishes. Trash removal and towels replaced daily. Living room w/sofa, chairs, large dining table w/chairs. TVs in 3 rooms. Very nice large balcony, glass top table, 4 wicker padded chairs plus 2 rocking chairs. Husb said this would be perfect resort if it was only on a sandy beach. Smathers Beach is about a mile down the road. We walked it one morning, looked nice. Longer and wider than looks from road but sea is so calm that we were not tempted to use beach.
Martello East museum a short walk from resort. Watch out for Robert The Haunted Doll. He gets his own citations from presidents and mail. Don't mess with him.We took discounted tickets for 3 museums( Lighthouse next to Hemingway House and Art museum on Front St )and enjoyed all very much.
Parking in Old Town a problem. We parked on side streets with long long walks to the front, used a lot of change on parking meter a long walk away, and once with an appointment pending we pd$ 20 to park. Duval St and the pier areas are fun to shop and sight see.
We dined at Trattoria next to resort twice, very good. Benihana is next to it. Maint issues were minor, personnel all helpful and courteous. Airport noise was no problem whatever, in fact we enjoyed seeing the variety of planes and jets from Navy base. We flew into St Lauderdale, rented car because we wanted experience of driving thru Keys. OK once but drive back on Fri PM was hectic. If there is next time, we will fly into Key West.

This was our first time staying at a Hyatt and we could not have been more pleased with our decision to stay at this location. The rooms were more spacious than we had expected, the staff could not have been more helpful and the room were extremely clean. We would highly recommend staying at this location!

We stayed at the Hyatt Windward Pointe from 11-12 to 11-19 and had an amazing time. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and after check-in we were directed to the concierge where we met Lynn who was tremdously helpful. She gave us information about small events the Hyatt was having for the week and gave us information about things to do while in Key West. She booked us a wind and wine sunset sail, a kayak and snorkel excursion, and bicycles for the week. We saw her almost every day around the resort somewhere and she always checked to make sure we were having a good time and if we wanted to do anything else.
The Hyatt had a welcome breakfast on Monday where local vendors came and gave us information about fishing, biking, snorkling, sailing, etc and gave away a few prizes. We got 20% off from a lot of places if we mentioned we were staying at the Hyatt. They also had a margarita party at the pool one afternoon and hosted a wine tasting in the lobby as well. Once again, you could win door prizes and it was nice to meet other guests staying at the Hyatt.
The room was great and we made breakfast most mornings in the kitchen and ate on the porch overlooking the grounds and ocean. Our room was cleaned daily and towels changed out everday as well. The grounds at the Hyatt Windward Pointe are spectacular. Other than the garden we saw at one of the Old Martello Forts, the grounds here were the nicest on the island. We biked to the Southernmost Point, Hemmingway House, and Lighthouse in about 15 - 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. The Hyatt had free parking so we spent our money parking downtown. It was maybe a 5-10 minute drive and we always enjoyed coming back to the "quite side" of the island to relax after the craziness of Duval St. The pool was very nice and we were able to swim almost every day. There are a couple of iguanas that hang out there and they are neat to watch. The hot tub was nice especially if it was cloudy or later in the evening. There were ample spots to soak up the sun and we saw people using the grills even though we didn't cook on them. The Abbey Road snack bar had a ping pong table and a pool table and there were two shuffleboards behind it.
I'll address some issues I've read on here:
Airport Noise: It's not like Key West is a major air traffic hub and we only heard one or two planes from inside our room. It was enjoyable to watch the small planes and even the few larger ones while at the pool. Key West is not that big and we acutally heard as much plane noise while at other places.
Distance to Duval St.: Like I said earlier, it's a great place to get away from the crowds and relax, but it's not like it's 30 minutes away. It's a 5-10 min drive. You could ride bicycles to the heart of Duval in less than 25 minutes and just have a cab pick you up. Scooters seemed to be the way to go if you want to save the money on parking.
The only negatives we encountered were the Abbey Road snack bar didn't have fish for their fish sandwiches all week. I spoke to the Abbey Road mgr and he said he was having trouble finding a good fresh fish for an affordable price. I understand that you want to serve a quality product at an affordable price, but just cover it up on the menu if you don't have a supplier. We were disappointed by this. They did have great hamburgers though. The only other thing was that my wife got bit up by some bug at the pool. It wasn't mosquitoes, but some small gnat looking bug. You might want to wear something to prevent this.
Overall, the Hyatt Windward Pointe was the perfect choice for our stay in Key West and we will definitely be back!

We stayed from Tuesday till Saturday and LOVED the resort... We enjoyed being a little away from all the action, but were only a quick 4 or 5 minute drive to Duval St. We had an issue with our coffee pot and once we called it took about 5 minutes and they were up at our room with a new one. Very accommodating. The grounds were kept up and beautiful. They do start working outside on the grounds early in the morning, but I see that as a bonus. It was beautiful. We enjoyed the different themes they had each night... We had a wine night, a margarita day at the pool, etc. It was very relaxing. The rooms are wonderful and spacious. We had a great view of the beach and pool area. Volleyball court was right outside our room. We will be back for sure. My only complaint is that my pillow was a little flat.

We stayed here during Fantasy Festival. our room was great! We had one of the corner rooms with a princess balcony. We spent a lot of time out there. The view was great. We even had breakfast out on our balcony one morning. The room was well appointed and clean. We hardly noticed the air traffic. We would definitely stay here again.

The parking lot at the Windward Point in literally 10 yards from the end of the runway at the Key West Regional Airport. Our two bedroom condo was quite nice with a view of the ocean. It was on the front of the building so, while we weren't subject to every takeoff and landing we, when a larger plane was preparing for takeoff, the room shook - not pleasant at 7AM. Rooms nearer the back of the property must be in the jet wash. No beach, decent pool and a dismal snack shop/bar. I would stay here again only if they had the last room in Key West.

Room Tip: Higher floor on the ocean side to avoid as much airport noise as possible.
