I am a time share owner with the Hyatt Vacation Club in Breckenridge,CO Stayed at the Hyatt Beach Resort during the first week of May 2010. I loved the location..very peaceful environment, huge pool, a cute modest sandy beach, and just minutes drive from so much that Key West has to offer... Most time share resorts affiliated with hotels such as Hyatt, Marriott, and Starwood, etc are similar in that they are not at all considered hotels....Rather, they are more like upscale condos with updated furnishings and decorations inside and out compared to condos not owned by hotel vacation clubs...the difference is to be prepared when staying here....and anyplace similar...you need a car, a trip to the grocery store, and some patience..and then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy!

The Bad:
The Hyatt Beach Resort is a group of timeshare condos located off Overseas HWY at the very entrance to Key West. Therefore, it is the farthest point away from the boardwalk, activities, restaurants, and shops.
We got a killer deal through a friend to rent a room for $200 a night. The advertised rate is $450. NOT WORTH 450! Hardly worth 200 for the location and lack of resort amenities such as room service, a bar (indoor or out), and an on site restaurant, etc. It's just a room with access to a pool. Everything else, you're on your own for.
The Good: Considering it was more like a condo than a hotel room, there's a lot of space inside your 2br+ room. Two full baths, a full kitchen, screened in patio , plenty of space to lounge around. AND THE BEST FEATURE...an amazing jacuzzi tub in the bathroom that fits 2. The bed was large and comfortable and towels were ample (although we were told to bring our own but we didn't need them).
The hotel is located on the waterfront so you can walk out on their private dock to watch the sunset or chill at the pool at night. The front desk is closed overnight.
Although it was relaxing, we had to jump in the car every morning to do anything.

This place was awesome, from check in to check out all the staff members were friendly. When we checked in we were given building E on the first floor. The room was HUGE, when you first walked in there was a bathroom and a room with a king bed and a TV. Then there was a kitchen with EVERYTHING in it .The family room had a pull out couch and a TV. There was a screened in porch with a table and a couch overlooking the pool. The master king bed room was huge. There was a TV a Jacuzzi tub, huge shower and a separate room for the toilet. The room was nicely decorated. We loved the pool and the hot tub it was very clean and even provided free toys. The king room rite when you walk in was very noisy. In the morning you could hear people walking up and down the stairs and there flip flops banging on the wood. The other bad thing about this hotel is when we checked out the there was a 49 DOLLAR CHARGE for 7 local calls at 7 dollars each. On the phone it said free local calls and free 800 calls. They said they were having "trouble with there phone company", so remember to CHECK OUT. Other than that everything was great. I will return to this hotel next year.

We just got back from Key West and had to get on here to say that this hotel is great for families with young kids! The pool was a zero entry pool and the kids just loved playing at the shallow end. In addition there was a sand area with a toy box full of sand toys for the kids to play with. Very kids friendly! We spent two full days just lounging at the pool. The hotel is about 4 miles from the main area of Key West, Duval ST. but the travel was worth it because once we were done exploring with our little ones we could relax at the hotel. Our room was a two room and the floor plan was very open and inviting for us. In addition we always had the back door to the deck open because of the screened in porch, our daily dinners were eaten on the deck . I Loved this place it truly allowed us to have a vacation!

The uint was well appointed, all the amenties a family needs including a screened porch with table. The resort describes their "private beach", but it is not really a beach just sand around the pool and harbor. The beach is approximately 30 yards long, and not amenable to swimming. The hotel is a distance from town, and a 3 mile walk to a sandy beach. Be sure you rent a car if you choose to stay here.

Stayed at this resort Dec. 22-26, 2009. When we checked in on the evening of Dec. 22 we were told where our condo was but not advised that the parking was extremely limited nor that there was an elevator which could be used for transporting our lugage. The person at the front desk simply said, "well...you are the last ones to arrive." We parked in front of the hotel - miles away from our condo - and dragged our luggage and our 81 year old mother up three flights of steps to our room. It was not until the next day, in the daylight did we discover the elevator on our own. We had booked 2 condos on August 27 requesting that the two be side by side as our son and his wife owuld also be staying there. At that time we were assured tha this would be possible. When our son arrived not only were they unable to stay in the condo beside us but weren't even on the same floor. We found this unacceptable for a reservation made 5 months in advance. Lastly, we made reservations for Christmas Day brunch at the SHOR restaurant at this Hyatt's sister facility on the other end of the island. After brunch we found we were being charged $28 for parking for 1 hr. When my wife returned to the condo and spoke to the front desk clerk about this outrageous charge she simply said, "all that information is in your check in packet, you should have read it beforehand and had your ticket validated." For goodness sake - we were on vacation, we didn't want to read a handbook for using their facilities. At over $400 night we expected decent service, parking and maybe a friendly face at the front desk. Instead we found ourselves parking in a mud pit under the facility - due to renovations taking place; noise above our heads the entire time we were there from children eager for Santa to come; unfriendly faces and a total lack of helpfulness. We called the front desk on the night before our departure and asked if they could check on a reservation for us at the Hyatt in Ft. Lauderdale and were told that they didn't have that number - they would have to go to the computer to look it up or we could come down and look it up if we wanted. We decided to stay at the Hilton instead - Our advice, next time stay at the Marriott next door. They have a better beach view, onsite restaurant and bar and clearly marked elevators. That's where we plan to stay next Christmas.
