“Ideal for a visit to Key West”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

The place is beautiful, so the rooms. Parking is free (as it should always be for a place like this) and the scenery from the rooms (at least in our case) was very nice. It's also worth to mention that the staff was very friendly, taking into account that I went with some family members without little or none knowledge of English.

Regarding location, well, this could be an issue depending on your expectations for two reasons: if you want to be close to downtown, this is not the place (anyway, I strongly recommend to visit Key West with a car). Apart from that, some other facilities such as gym and restaurant are located in other Hyatt hotel (you will be provided with a discount) but you'll have to drive to get there.

About the room, we reserved a two-bedroom suite (two bathrooms, of course) with a full kitchen. One of the bedrooms had a very nice hydro massage tube but unfortunately the heater wasn't enough to fill it up with hot water, so it was unusable. Truth to be told, I didn't ask for a solution for this because we decided to try it the last day.

With pros and cons, this is a place that I would recommend for your family visit to Key West.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side have also a nice view to a small river. If you open the window a little you...

We have been coming to Hyatt Beach House since 2002 and have always found it to be clean, relaxed, well-managed and good value for the money.

As a timeshare, it is well-maintained. When there are any issues, one phone call to the front desk takes care of the problem. The concierge service is always spot-on, as they don't promote any activity that isn't top of the line.

We especially like the relaxed and laid-back atmosphere that comes with a large property on the waterfront. Because it is located away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town Key West, we can truly relax when we want, and yet can be within ten minutes of any activity that piques our interest.

I highly recommend Beach House if you want a beach atmosphere combined with a well-maintained facility.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor overlooking the pool.

We just returned from a one week stay at the Hyatt Beach House Resort in Key West. We did an exchange for this resort so I do not know the pricing or value. We enjoyed the resort very much. It was clean, the pool area was very nice, the beach lounge chairs were comfortable, it was quiet. The resort only has 74 Units so it is not a large resort. We had a two bedroom and brought our best friends. I liked the location because it was quiet and away from the busy area. It is only a 2-3 mile ride from town. We had a rental and had no problem going into town and finding a parking space or lot that was reasonably priced. After a fun day or night in Key West we came back to a nice quiet place. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Apartment is a great size for a family with ample facilities. The Kitchenette area is ideal for breakfasts, making snacks and storing the fridge with drinks, ice creams etc. Also the use of a gas bbq at the hotel is perfect for cooking lunch whilst hanging around the pool. However eating out in Key West is a must as there are an abundance of restaurants in idyllic locations such as by the waterfront and on the pier.
We travelled with our family from Florida (including my seven year old niece ) and our two teenage children. The accommodation suited all ages and although it is at the far end of the island from Duval Street/Mallory square transportation is available from the hotel at approx. five dollars per person per trip. The hotel is immaculately clean and the staff are very helpful.

Key West is a beautiful place to visit, we can't wait to go back !!

Just returned from a short stay at the hyatt beach house in key west. It is one of the few hotels with a beach in key west, so that's a plus. There is also a shallow walk in pool and the suite itself was nice. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a kitchen and living room. It was a good deal for what we paid, but had you have paid full price it probably would not have been worth the 700 per night. There is a very small tiki bar and a bacci ball court near the pool. The bar only serves drinks. There are no restaurants on property but there are three bbq's for use by those staying at the resort. They also do not have a gym or a spa. They do give you coupons for use at the restaurant and spa at their other property in town but it is pretty far away. It would have been better if they were adjoining properties. We also noted that this hotel charged $5 per person for a shuttle, one way, into and out of town, while the marriott next door had a free shuttle for it's guests. The room was clean but any food that was not placed in the refrigerator was attacked by tiny ants though I doubt there is anything that the hotel could have done about this problem. Lastly the walkways outside the suites are all wooden boards, like a boardwalk, which looks really nice but if you have a room near the elevator and other guests are taking their luggage out early for check out it can be noisy in the morning.

Room Tip: If you don't want to be woken up by others checking out ask for a room far from the elevators.

We especially enjoyed the large, lovely rooms. Perfect for families. We really liked the location as we did a lot beyond Key West. We were handy to the Hurricane Hole Marina (walking distance) on Stock Island as well (good dockside restaurant and fishing charters). The location is generally quiet, being at the opposite end of Key West from all the commotion. My only complaint is that the sliding glass door and bedroom windows offered absolutely no sound insulation. We heard every noise from the pool area and all the people on their porches. Many other guests let their kids run around with no supervision all day and they were quite loud. A pool attendant would be a great addition. I think seeing staff in the area would cut down on the kids playing with the beach enclosures and handicapped lift. It would also have been nice if the "quiet hours" rules were enforced.

Room Tip: Buildings A and F are closest to the ocean.

We flipped some time share and were so pleased that we were on the opposite end of the island of the downtown/Mallory Square area. Front Desk staff was very polite and checked us in quickly. We had forgotten our cell phone charger and they were able to find us one for the stay. They were very accommodating and urged us to call if we needed anything. Some past reviewers commented on there being no restaurant on site but being a time share, we were used to having breakfast and lunch in the unit (if we were on site and not out and about) and going out in the evening. There is a Publix and WinnDixie a mile up the road.
There is a small beach but it is a wonderful place to sit with a drink in the adirondak chairs and watch the sail boats . Could swim right there . A great dock if you want to rent a boat. Our room was B11 which is on the elevated first floor and didn't look promising but it was great. Very easy to get to and from the pool/dock/beach area. Nice very large screened in balcony with ceiling fans.
We were warned not to go to Smathers beach which is only a mile or so away (and has free parking!!) because of spring breakers but we were there in the morning and till about 2pm- too early for them as there was lots of room and hardly anybody on the beach. Sand very nice and smoth bottoms. Higgs beach was also great and also had a restaurant for a lunchtime snack.
We were able to easily access the Old Town area from the hotel by car and although parking down there is a challenge, we found it manageable .
Great everything and we plan to ask to go back next year for another week.

Room Tip: The top and end units would give you a view of the ocean and would be great but we think any unit wo...
