“A nice quiet hotel”
Reviewed August 26, 2007

This hotel was one of the few on Key West that could accommodate a family of 5, a sofa bed is in the hotel room. Not a particularly cheap Motel but well worth the money. Located just off the main street of Key West. Once you are parked at the motel, Mallory Square is about 15 minutes walk. Amazingly the hotel is very close to all the bars and shops but very quiet on a night. There were no other children in the motel when we were there, I suggest if you have children ask for an upstairs room or one in a single storey (we could hear people walking around upstairs). The owners are really friendly and having breakfast outside was lovely. Rooms were very airy, ceiling fan made the room lovely and cool. Rooms also have safes in the rooms. Highly recommend this hotel.

We were going to spend one night in Key West but after seeing our GREAT accomodations and realizing HOW MUCH there is to do in Key West we extended our stay to 2 nights at the Almond Tree.

Feeling immediately welcomed by Trudy and her wonderful English accent, we were amazed at how we could feel so secluded yet only be 1/2 block from Duvall St. The rooms all the way to the linens were first class. The pool area lovely! And add to that the bonus of a happy hour with real food (!) and a continental breakfast, what more could you ask for?

Parking in an adjacent parking lot is secure and makes touring Key West by foot easy, although carts & bikes were available to rent across the street.

If you're looking for a quiet get-away where you are still central to the Activity, Almond Tree is a Great little Inn.

  • Liked — 1/2 block from Duval St. yet felt like you were secluded
  • Disliked — If we'd spent much time in the room, it might have been considered small

My wife and I just finished a five night stay at the Almond Tree Inn (8/20-8/24). The accommodations were excellent, the amenities including pool, Continental breakfast and "Happy Hour" consistently exceeded our expectations.

The other patrons were all very approachable and very friendly. A nice touch to weary travelers.

Above all, the staff was exceptionally helpful. Their personal service was superior. They assisted us in planning our day trips (all excellent suggestions) as well as directing us to the "local" restaurants and art galleries. Compliments to them all: Jose, Denise, Trudy & Diane. You were all so great. Thanks and to turn a phrase "we'll be back!"

Lastly, the proprietor (whose name I never did learn) was very congenial and not overly patronizing. This suited us just fine because he is such a gentlemen.

Incredible property, located a half block from Duval Street. Easy access to everything in Key West.

Spacious comfortable room with sitting area, small fridge and microwave. Bath and Body Works soaps and shampoos.

Great staff and friendly service, attentive immediately to every need and request. Continental breakfast and nightly reception great! Off street parking available at $5/day. Despite fronting on Truman, a wall around the pool really does block all the noise. Well maintained landscape with some water features, nice pool, very relaxing setting.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. We stayed here for a long weekend and felt completely relaxed the moment we walked into The Almond Tree. You would never know how nice it is until you walked through the gate. Even though it is on a busy street, it is set back enough that you will not hear the street noise. There are also 2 waterfalls on property that help set a relaxing tone. Our room was on the first floor, just off the pool area and had a queen bed, nice inside sitting area, fridge, microwave, desk and a safe. There was also a nice outside sitting area. The room was clean and had Bath and Body amenities. They staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and it had things like French Toast, bagels, fresh fruit, pastries, hard boiled eggs, coffee and a couple of juices. In the afternoon they have a Happy Hour with cheeses, sausages, crackers wine and beer. They even had pizza one day!

WOW! Key West lodgings are very "hit or miss", and I was nervous booking here b/c it's hard to tell from just pics. . but I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Room was immaculate and spotlessly clean, looked like it was newly remodeled and furnished. Pool, hot tub,and grounds were beautiful, & price includes free drinks at happy hour every night poolside, and breakfast. Staff is VERY nice and friendly, and don't forget, parking is only $5.00 a day! (very cheap for Key West where parking is very difficult!) Also a great location. . right off of Duval St., next door is a 24 hour CVS and across the street a 24 hour Denny's Diner. I'd DEFINITELY stay here again! We got the queen suite. . it was 2 queen beds, a queen pull out couch, and a small kitchenette area. . . just enough for 6 people. (but note, only one bathroom). If you want a clean, tastefully decorated place at a good location and at a reasonable price, this place IS IT!!!

  • Liked — CLEAN & NEW LOOKING ROOMS & FURNISHINGS
  • Disliked — Free happy hour is only wine, beer, and soda.

My new wife and I stayed at the Almond Tree Inn from July 23-27 of 2007. It was my first time to Key West and her first time when not on a cruise.
The check-in was a breeze and pleasant. Our room was 103, and even though I was a little skeptical about being so close to the pool and hot tub, it ended up being a perfect spot. Noise was never a big issue, and it was great walking out of the room and walking 10 steps to jump in the pool (or getting breakfast/happy hour refreshments).
The breakfast and happy hour were great. There was always a good assortment of food, ranging from watermelon to crackers and cheese, to even pizza one evening. Bring some one-dollar bills to tip the receptionist/bartender. I admit to being a little discouraged by the tip jar at first, but honestly, they keep the refreshments stocked and clean with a smile on their face so I tipped generously.
Housekeeping was awesome, period.
Location might just be the best in Key West. It's basically in the center of everything, but tucked away enough to keep away the noise of Duval (if there is any).
Another great touch was the sparkling wine we received in celebration of our honeymoon and a birthday. We came back from walking around one day to the bottle nicely placed in a wine holder with ice. We loved it!
It's tough to come up with any reasons not to like the Alomond Tree, but if I had to pick on something, I would say the two "complaints" would be the price and bed. Depending on when you book and how lucky you get, prices can change. We booked quite a bit in advance and probably paid for it, as our room was $200+. I've noticed prices can go down to $150 or so if rooms are available the closer it is to the time of arrival. I wish I would have checked prices before the vacation, as it probably would have saved me quite a bit. Also, we had a king bed, which wasn't bad at all but we both felt it was a little "cheaper" feeling than what we are used to. We travel often and always book a king bed, and the king bed in our room didn't feel up to par as what we are used to, but maybe it was just our preferences.
Otherwise, I can't say enough good things about the Almond Tree Inn. If I could stay there again for just a little bit cheaper, I don't think we would even dare to try another place the next time we travel to Key West. Thank you Almond Tree!
