If you ever want to be pampered go to Orchid Key Inn, 24 rooms with a pool in the middle nice bar, clean rooms. We had a party of 10, 5 couples, we had thought about staying at a B&B and I am so glad we didn't this is like a B&B with your own private bathroom, mini fridge, safe and flat screen TV we really didn't use. No steps walk out of your room and everything isothere nice breakfast and they even give you a free drink at happy hour. Oh did I say that we...........
Loved this place and Brandon at the front desk is the best.

We stayed 4 nights in February 2013. Orchid Key was our home base for fun and great memories. Brandon was our host for the first 3 days - he was great. Very helpful with restaurant ideas, bottle openers, and scissors! Brandon has been at the hotel for many years and clearly takes pride in the property and his work. Thanks for a great time!
The pool was nice, but a little chilly in the middle of winter. It would have been perfect if the air temps were a little higher. The hot tub was perfect. Happy hour was great every night. Betty was sweet, and Michael needs to smile a little more (Michael, smile if you're reading this!).
The room was excellent - super clean and a very comfy bed. Great bathroom/shower. We were in room 102, which was close to the street - a little noise that bothered us until we found the bathroom fan switch!
One other warning. All the cool roosters that you see strutting around Key West (yes, the actual male fowl), tend to do what roosters do around 6am every morning!
The location can't be beat. Steps to the lighthouse, the State park beach, Hemmingway's, and all of the awesome Duval street dining and fun. Brandon said we were within walking distance to 300 bars, but we only stopped into 55 or so. We're saving the rest for next time.
Top recommendation - take the Commotion on the Ocean sunset sail. All you can drink beer and margaritas, and an awesome band. Very cool cruising past Mallory Square and waiving to all the worshipers. When the deck hands aren't trimming the sails, they are scurrying around with pitchers to keep you topped off.

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the pool - call ahead for this as most people know to ask for one.

This is an old motel building which has been renovated to a high standard. However we had a room which had no outside seating and a view of the car park. It was very clean and the decor and bedding was of a high standard but I do not like to sit on a high stool to eat. The pool area was just concrete and not very appealing. This motel is charging five star hotel prices for nothing more than a motel. Albeit with high quality fittings in the room. I am sure that I would not go again.

Room Tip: Unless you simply have to stay on Duvall street I suggest you try somewhere else.

Just returned from as short trip to Key West and had a lovely stay at this property. It is a renovated 50's or 60's style motel, but don't let that fool you. While the rooms are small, they are clean and nicely decorated; the bathroom was fabulous. Only downside was not much room to spread out luggage and very small closet. The property is very quiet considering Duvall St is just outside the parking area. A nice, little pool is surrounded by palm trees with orchids growing out of the trunks and other tropical foliage all around. They provide a wonderful breakfast by the pool with fresh fruit, yougarts, bagels, toast, banana bread, fresh bakery items daily, fresh orange juice and super coffee. Each evening there is a happy hour with a complimentary wine/beer and reduced prices for other drinks. Also cheese and crackers are provided. Parking is extra, but worth it to be off the street and close to everything. Staff is friendly and very helpful. All in all, a really super nice place to stay!

Couples trip last week for an amazing time in Key West. (Recommend Duval St Pub Crawl, 915 restaurant)

We chose this hotel based on previous reviews and proximity to Duval Street happenings. The Orchid Key does not disappoint, in fact the staff won't hear of it. From the friendly staff(Brandon and Kim), flowing buffet breakfast bar(great coffee), and daily happy hour~we could just stop there. But, wait, there is more!!! Rooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, soundproofing(did not hear anyone else), modernized baths, flatscreens(did not have one once!!) and mini fridge/microwave. Everything around the hotel is clean, including the spacious off street parking. I like the child proof security gates around the pool too. Brandon and Kim go well above the usual recommendations, etc. They made our reservations, changed them when our plans changed, and offered up new solutions to any dilemma. They deserve a retention bonus as we will definitely be bringing our party of ten back next year!! This was our fourth Key West vacay~and the best!!!
Thanks for a wonderful time!

Orchid Key Inn was a wonderful inn. Very good location, one block away from Hemingway home and on a quiet area of Duval. Very good breakfast around the pool. The inn has the look of 1950s motel but the remodeling is first class. The rooms may be small, but are definitely first class.

This was our first visit to Key West. We were lucky to choose the Orchid Key Inn. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Brandon & Kim at the front desk were always happy real people! They gave great advice to resturants and fun spots. The breakfast was awesome every day!
Betty & Michael made delicious drinks in the quaint fun bar each night. We just booked another stay at the Orchid Key Inn!! We can't wait.
