We stayed at Island City House in November 2013, renting 2 rooms with our whole family including 3 small children. The property is a little slice of paradise and the stay could not have been any better! As soon as you get there you feel like you are staying in a true iconic Key West home, which has been beautifully updated and kept to the highest standard.

Gaines at the front desk helped get us situated and acclimated to all the great restaurants around us. The paint was fresh, the plants were lush and tropical, the pool was so refreshing, and the rooms were luxurious. We had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor of the main house, very comfortable with all the amenities of home including a full kitchen, sleeper sofa, detached bedroom, TVs, internet. At sunset we went up to the rooftop deck and had a great time.

The best part is you are within walking distance of everything worth seeing. Duval and all of the best restaurants were never more than a 10-15 min walk. You never need to use your car til you're ready to leave again! All in all a fantastic time in a gem of a property, a place we look forward to visiting again soon!

Fabulous small hotel with great character and very friendly and welcoming staff.

We spent 9 days in the main building prior to Christmas 2013 and loved every minute of it. We had a spacious suite and massive porch with comfy sofas. Our bed was only queen - you need to be in the cigar house to get a king, I believe. This was because our bedroom was not overly large but it wasn't really a problem. We had cooling ceiling fans in the bedroom, kitchen and lounge as well as decent AC.

Rico/Rigo(?) - the delightful maintenance man - takes great pride in all that he does and is clearly a treasure. There must be a huge amount of work involved in keeping such an old property looking so smart. He loves the buildings and treats them with care.

It is a shame that they are no longer allowed to serve breakfast (new regulations about industrial kitchens) but we fell into an easy routine of making our own coffee in our kitchen and nipping out on the bike to nearby Fausto's supermarket (we pre-ordered) to get fresh bagels each morning. We then sat and breakfasted on our lovely porch. They do provide snacky breakfast supplies but these didn't really appeal to us.

We rented bikes from the hotel and rode everywhere - so lovely to ditch the car!

The hotel is extremely well located - quiet enough but very easy access to everywhere you could want to go. On our last night, a rather noisy group arrived and were drinking and chatting on the porch below which could have proved a problem if this had gone on throughout our holiday. Luckily it was just one night and they went to bed by 11.

The pool was very quiet and lovely - we swam and lazed around on a couple of days.

The wifi was rather feeble and we had to sit close to the office to get a signal - maybe this will be improved in the future as it was a little inconvenient.

Favourite restaurants:
Blue Heaven
Cafe Sole
Salute
Only Wood (AMAZING pizzas)
Paseo (for their corn)

We have been to KW several times and love it. We flew on BA via Miami and found the price for the onward flight from Miami to Key West (booked with BA but airline was American Eagle) made a price difference of just £1! Well worth looking at this route if you are travelling from the UK.

We will be back next year and will stay at ICH, despite trying various other hotels in the past.

Room Tip: Look carefully at the options in the three different buildings and choose according to your needs i...

We stayed here for our honeymoon. The location is great, but that's not the best selling point. We were in a garden view studio in the Arch House. It was so cute and quaint. Private balcony with hammock and adirondack chairs. The grounds are beautiful and so tropical. The staff is super nice, very helpful even when they're busy. Laundry is right next to the pool, and we had to utilize after being away from home for over a week. The housekeeping staff was great, right down to folding the washcloths into cute shapes. They were very diligent in keeping our room clean while being non-invasive. I have been to Key West several times, this was my first time at Island City House. I will never stay anywhere else --- unless I move there! :)

Room Tip: Personally, we were happy that we were in the Arch House vs the Cigar House. We didn't go in a r...

I'm so happy to find this hotel online for $150. What? This hotel is located on Eaton St and 3 blocks from Duval and short walk to Mallory Square. Here are the goods:

1) Plenty of FREE street parking.
2) Lovely garden pathways to the reception and rooms
3) Amazing true..Key West style architecture
4) Prompt check-in by friendly staff
5) Queen Room# 6 was very roomy
6) Kitchen with flat stove, micro, fridge and mini breakfast table
7) Separate living area with LCD TV
8) Bathroom was spic and span. Good hot water and pressure and no clogs.
9) Wooden floors were gleaming
10) My favorite was the porch. It had a swing and view of Eaton St.
11) Almost forgot...this hotel also has a pool

I'd stay here over the hotel I stayed at during my last visit...anytime! This hotel had exceeded the online pictures.. its just better to see the facade in person :) Although my room was on the street side, I didn't hear any traffic noise at all once porch door was shut. I had a relaxing overnight stay and will plan a weekend stay next time I'm in Key West which is couple of months from now! See my pics.

We had a great stay on this property- lush grounds and staff was accommodating to our needs. Our room was one of the smaller rooms but it was adequate for us. Our friends had kitchen/dining space that looked great if you are interested in preparing your own meals. Our room was quiet and peaceful. The property location is awesome- a short walk to anywhere.

We would definitely re-visit and stay again. We did have one issue when we arrived. The air conditioner was dirty and emitting a bad smell. The staff cleaned it and then it was just fine.

There was a nice widow's walk area on top of one of the buildings that was nice for all you star gazers.

Bert and Mr. Toes the cats were there to greet us and added a nice homey touch to the Hotel.

Room Tip: I would recommend the main house for charm and elegance. Rooms away from the road are preferred for...

We stayed in the Cigar House. We loved it!! It worked out great with my two kids and mother. The location is perfect to get to everything by foot or bike. We will definately come back!!!!! It was our second time staying. We stayed on bottom floor and next top floor. Enjoyed the bottom floor best.

Room Tip: cigar house is off street. Sometimes you may have loud people at pool though and pool close by.

Horrible - do not stay here!

Property is poorly managed and impossible to communicate with.

Outdated policies and greedy fees!

Be very careful or book elsewhere.

I cannot believe this place manages to operate as they do.

Every minor issue is meet with "that's our policy...".

Sad.

This review is based solely on a cancellation of a room that was booked through one of the major travel portals (i.e. Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.). The reviewer did not believe he was properly informed of our cancellation policy by that portal. Unfortunately, we have no control over the information that these large portals provide our guests. We have tried numerous times to edit the information that they give out to guests, and they are as unresponsive to us as they are to the guests who may try to call them. My recommendation is to make your reservation through our website or call us directly--it is the same price as you will find on any site on the web and you will receive accurate information regarding your reservation directly from us.
