Duval is the main street in Key West, where everything is happening.. Situated right in the middle of Duval street, Duval House, is perfectly nestled amidst a lush beautiful garden typical of old Key West, picket fences and wooden houses.. And everything else is just a few steps away, restaurants, the beach, to the pier, clubs, etc.. Our home away from home.

Room Tip: Request for rooms facing the garden as it should be more quiet than the ones facing the street, and...

Located in the heart of Old Town Key West, the Duval House gives a lovely glimpse into the past. The hardwood floors and high ceilings anchor tastefully decorated rooms, complete with modern amenities (mini-fridge and LCD television). We chose Duval House as our home-away-from-home to celebrate a 40th birthday weekend. Our gracious hosts helped complete the weekend with a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries in our room upon arrival. Their willingness to help make the weekend special truly made a difference!

Our stay coincided with Spring Break for some colleges, and our room was adjacent to Duval Street which can be very busy and loud late into the night. I would recommend requesting a room farther back on the property if you're a light-sleeper. Luckily, we travel with a "noise machine", which helped tremendously. Because Duval House is not a new structure, there is some evidence of age. The wood floors squeak and window A/C units cool the rooms since there is no central heating/air conditioning. This was a PLUS for us! We loved the historic feel! It's like taking a step back in time, almost expecting to turn a corner and run into faces from the past.

The lush green garden area is a lovely surprise, just steps from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street. Although we didn't take advantage of the pool, it looked clean and well-maintained. The gazebo area got a fresh coat of paint while we were there, too. The owners and staff seem to really love the property, and treated the guests like family. This was not our first trip to KW--in the past we stayed in more traditional hotels. Not anymore. Whenever we return to Key West in the future, I hope to stay at Duval House again and again! Thank you for such a wonderful weekend!

Room Tip: Rooms farther back from Duval Street are quieter.

This is a premiere place to stay and we always try to reserve there. The accommodations are as advertised and they not only address any problems instantly they ask how can they improve. Members of the staff are constantly working to keep these historic buildings in excellent condition. During our stay I had a question and the manager very graciously stopped what she was doing to answer. Last fall the Duval house was booked when we wanted to visit so we reserved a place at Albury Court. A disastrous decision, the accommodations are not as claimed and Key West Historic Inns has no interest in correcting the multiple problems. In the future we will adjust our travel plans to stay at Duval House.

We stayed in Duval House for 2 nights with another couple in 2 king size adjoining rooms with a shared washroom. We booked last minute and got what seemed like competitive rates for Key West. The check in was painless and the staff was sufficiently friendly and helpful. While the overall layout of the rooms was OK, the rooms, and particularly the washroom were so run down they reminded us more of a roadside, by-the-hour motel than an upscale B&B. The rooms were old, with peeling paint and loud, ancient, wall mounted AC units, while the washroom smelt like mold and looked like an outhouse.
On the positive, the grounds are quite clean (although they are starting to show their age) and the pool area is shaded, but lovely. The location is terrific and the breakfast was reasonable.
Overall, good value for Key West at not more than $200/night per room.

Room Tip: Take a higher floor if possible. Our ground floor rooms were sub par.

We stayed in a king room with a balcony. It was really nice. The bed was super comfy! It was great to sit out on the balcony in the evenings and mornings. A nice addition would be a coffee maker. The continental breakfast in the garden area was great, as long as you don't take the wrong plate.Someone traveling with us was getting some boiled eggs and a bagel and took a big plate near the waffles and got reprimanded like a little kid from the manager. Really??? Glad it was the day we were leaving. Other then that incident the breakfast was a nice touch and lots to choose from. It was nice to come back at night and close our door and you could not hear any noise from Duval St. at all. All the other employees were so sweet and nice, maybe the manager should take lessons.

Nice place. Great location if your going to party in key west. It's an easy stumble from sloppy joes. This place was clean and had a nice vibe to it. The grounds were very secure and well maintained. I would stay here again. We only were here 2 nights but would have stayed longer. We would return

We stayed in a cabana room near the breakfast area and pool. These are the least expensive rooms, but even with a 30% walk in rate, they are still expensive. Parking was also extra. These rooms are small, very clean with a queen size bed, sink in the room, small flat screen TV and no fridge, microwave, radio, phone or coffee maker. They did have internet access though. The bathroom is miniscule and the shower even tinier but every thing worked and there was always hot water. We didn't spend much time in our rooms so they were adequate for us. We slept well and it was quiet.
Patio doors lead out to the beautifully kept gardens and heated pool. It was a lovely place to have breakfast outside each morning and to finish the evening off with a glass of wine. It was hard to believe this quiet garden was just a breezeway walk from the noise and activity of Duval
Street. Out the front gate, a walk to the left takes you to the southern most point and to the right
Mallory Square. A great little bakery is across the street and a myriad of restaurants and bars are near by. If you visit make sure to pat the friendly grey cat who kept us company on the patio. This was our first visit to Key West and we loved it. Can't wait to return one day.
