Had a great sunset cruise on the Western Union Schooner. What a night.. Nice breeze that allowed us to sail with out engines for most of the trip. The crew was friendly, the beer, wine and champagne chilled and available. They even have a special treat of conch chowder. (very good)
But the best part aside from loving the quiet and serenity of sailing, is the fact that this Schooner s the Flag Ship of Florida, and a true part of history. You just have to do this in Key West.

Last week, I met up with a group of friends from high school. We graduated almost thirty years ago and have reconnected through social media. This was my first trip to Key West. One of the highlights of the week was the Sunset Sail on our last night. The weather was great and the scenery was INCREDIBLE! There is something so peaceful and serene about being on the water at sunset.

The crew of the Wester Union was fantastic! They shared all of the history about the boat, let us participate in raising the sails and steering the ship. They were friendly and attentive. We had plenty of room to move around the ship and a million photo opportunities.

Everyone in our group had a wonderful time. There are other sunset sailing/boat options, but this particular ship is the BEST, by far!! I will definitely sail with them again when I return to Key West!

This is a beautiful old sailing ship, passengers can help hoist the sails. This is a peaceful trip and a nice way to view the sunset. If you like history and old sailing ships, you'll enjoy this. It's romantic.

If you want a nice, relaxing time, this is it! We booked the sunset trip and were upset when it got rained out. Thankfully, the rain did clear in time the next night and we were able to get on. Because of the weather the previous few days, the cruise was about half full. We had lots of room to move around and plenty of places to sit. A couple of people even danced to the music. The crew was great! We heard about the history of the ship and some of the places we passed. Our kids (8 & 10) helped raise the sails and got to steer too. This will be one of our best memories of Key West!
