We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the coastal waters of Key West and learning about the ecosystem that begins with the red mangroves. Imagine a good but not too challenging workout, meandering your way through a mangrove tunnel, paddling across the calm open waters and drifting along with the current. We saw various species of birds, iguanas, shrimp, and crab. Four hours of fun enhanced by the teachings of a very knowledgeable guide.

Highly recommend this! Very knowledgable guides. We had a mix of novice and experienced kayak paddlers and the trip was great for everyone. Jeff was amazingly knowledgable, nice, and fun.

We brought 4 friends to stay with us in Cudjoe Key last month and wanted to take them on a kayak tour. Since we were closer to Geiger Key area, we booked our tour out of there. It was one of the most interesting and relaxing days we experienced during their visit. From the first phone call to arrange the tour, to the picture taking session at end of tour, everything was professional, stress-free and easy. I would highly recommend this tour; especially if you have Jack as your guide....he was AWESOME. The birdwatching and beautiful views made this trip even more enjoyable. Thanks for such a wonderful day!!!

The concierge at our hotel directed us to this tour. We booked a half day kayaking and snorkeling tour out to the wildlife refuge west of Key West. The tour sailed on a small catamaran, just six of us and the tour guide who was also one of the owners. My wife gets motion sickness and we viewed their website claims about calmness skeptically but we are happy to say that they were truthful based on our experience. No problems and only a few brief minutes of any remote choppy waters. Our guide diverted around our initial destination when two other tours were spotted in the waters. We continued further on to Archer Key where we kayaked around and through the key. The peacefulness with only the sound of the birds and paddles was amazing. Although the guide and others described how much the wildlife and snorkeling has suffered in recent decades, we still found it breathtaking. We have kayaked before but never snorkeled. I ditched my glasses and had gotten contacts just in case we snorkeled and it was worth it. I am still in awe thinking about the fish I swam with. This tour was completely low-pressure, almost private, and never felt rushed. In fact we returned later than scheduled solely because the guide wanted us to have the best possible experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat and any misgivings I might have had about the $95/person price disappeared into the water. (There also did not appear to be any mark-up on the price having booked through the hotel which both surprised and tickled me. And they picked us up.) By keeping it small, the owners and team desire to deliver a better experience than other larger operators. I have no experience to vouch for or malign other operators but Key West Eco Tours delivered on their promises.

My wife and I went on the Eco-Tour with Java Cat and had a wonderful time. This is a relatively small sailing catamaran that carries only six passengers, so you are guaranteed to get personalized attention. Co-owner Carla showed us a great time and was very helpful explaining how to handle a kayak. She gave us a guided tour around one of the small islands on the "flats" and showed us all the flora and fawna. We passed on the snorkeling part of the tour and asked Carla if we could just go sailing. She agreed and we spent the rest of the morning sailing and sharing stories with Carla.

Highly recommended.
