“A perfect spot for a Key West visit”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We stayed at the Reach Resort on Key West for a few days. It was the perfect spot for a Key West visit. All the way on the southern side of Duval street, away from all of the noise but close enough to walk to all of the action. The Reach is on the ocean side of Key West two blocks from the southern most point, Hemingway's house and the Key West lighthouse. A cab ride to Duval street will cost you $8 if you do not want to search for parking or ride bikes or walk the 1 mile.

We were upgraded for free to a suite when we checked in early. Since the room was not yet ready we decided to walk to Duval street and check it out. After a long afternoon and evening checking out the sights in Key West we returned to the Reach to complete our check in. Upon arrival to our room we discovered that the bathroom only had a shower. We did not think to request a bath tub when we made our reservations. So we contacted Paul Bartush the Front Desk Manager and explained the situation and he was able to find us a suite with a bathtub for the duration of our stay.

The suite was spacious and clean and the A/C kept the room very chilled. The bed was the most comfortable that I have slept on in a hotel. I was so glad the we decided to stay at the Reach. There is a $50 a day resort fee and an $18 a day parking fee over and above the room fee. I would prefer that all of the fees were added into the price of the room so that you can compare the true cost of the room with others in the area when deciding where to make reservations. But even with the Resort and parking fee's factored in, the Reach is an outstanding value and a family friendly resort. It is a great place to stay so book with confidence.

Our vacation to Key West was amazing! The city itself was what made it so amazing not the hotel. The Reach was a very nice hotel, but I agree with other reviews that we expected more. Being a Waldorf Astoria hotel i expected so much more just the name screams luxury. Its a wonderful hotel but the service we recd was expected not exceptional. We feel we could have recd the same expected service at other local hotels for a lower price. All in all it was nice we enjoyed our self but felt we good have recd the same elsewhere.
My husband and I went all out this vacation no holding back! We did everything and saw everything. The Reach was exceptional in booking all of our excursions. Mary and Liam were awesome and seemed just as excited for us to experience Key West as we were! The jet ski tour is a must and the helicopter tour was well worth it! Saw dolphins on the Jet Ski and a hammer head shark in the helicopter truly amazing!

The pool was definitely a great hangout relaxing and entertaining. The beach is nothing spectacular they advertise as having the only resort with a beach which is true but it's small, stinky from the sea grass and murky. Not the blue green water i expected. Better time spent at the pool with provided raft and water noodles.
We never ate at the "Strip House" on location restaurant we felt it was over priced when we saw it was $6.00 for a bowl of cereal and limited to taste. Plus there are so many places downtown to experience we didn't want to miss out on the local cuisine.

The Reach is all about location walking distance to all the Galleries, Food, and shops you could ask for! After walking so much Scooter Rental is a must and The Reach helped us out with that too a 24 hour rental that let us tour the island ourselves.

The resort type vacation was nice but after walking around its hard not to want to experience the little Bed and Breakfasts that Key West has to offer! We enjoyed our stay but I rarely ever stay at the same place twice! Thank you to The Reach and all it's staff for a lovely vacation.

We looked at a lot of very nice hotels and resorts online before ultimately deciding to stay at The Reach resort. The deciding factor was the beach. We did get an upgrade to an ocean-view suite and we were not disappointed. In fact, when we checked in, the parking valet told us that we had the nicest balcony in the resort. He was right. The room and large balcony were wonderful. We spent every day on the beach and Patrick was great. Popcicles were a plus. Our room was cleaned every day and the evening turndown service was a nice surprise. We liked that we could walk to many of the major attractions, including Mallory Square. Our next trip we will fly right into Key West and skip the rental car. We never used it. The service was excellent and everyone greeted us with a smile. The only issue we had was that a light bulb was burned out in the bathroom (we did not report it until we left) and the matress was more worn (like a pit) on the side closest to the bathroom. We alternated sides each night. We cannot wait to go back!

Fantastic views, fantastically comfortable beds, outstanding service! The beach concierge service and the surf shack guys are the bomb. Hooked us up with the best seats on the beach and the best waverunner tour of the island. Only downside was the elevator in our building was out of service and the pool could've used a little better filtering. We sat beachside the entire time so the pool was a non-issue for us. The cuban pork sandwich was wonderful and when ordering a cocktail, plan in advance, it takes a little time for them to get back to you. Upon arrival and checkout the service was worth every penny. Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside or beachfront or you may end up with a room on the garage side which can be occas...

Beautiful, renovated and cozy hotel with a beach included. Pool for the ones that like pools and a beautiful beach for ones the like to relax in front of the ocean.
Rooms are clean and nice.
My 7 years old kid had good time on the beach and relaxing on the hammocks.

My wife and I came to KW for our first solo vacay since kids. The Reach was perfect. So here is an interesting fact. KW has no natural beaches, we learned from our guide on the Jet Ski tour which is an absolute MUST, so much fun! If a beach is on your list, then The Reach is your spot. Some claim it is too far from the "action" on Duval. They're just lazy. It's a great walk to the other end and the restaurants and bars start early on. Rooms were clean, spacious with just enough amentities. Besides, you won't be inside much anyway. Hoping to make this an annual event.

We booked a weekend at the Reach using my husband's reward points. When we arrived, we had been upgraded to a fabulous room with lofted ceilings, and a gorgeous view of the pool and beach. The room was spacious, sparkling clean, and smelled fabulous - not always what you get in a beach-front hotel. We arrived late, and were not dressed for dinner, but stopped by Strip House to get suggestions on a casual meal nearby. They insisted that we come on in - casual dress was fine, so we did. The filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the scallops were the best I've had in years. On Saturday, we hung out at the pool after breakfast in town. It was clean, and not over-crowded. If you're looking for a site for a wedding, the pier is gorgeous! They were dredging the beach while we were there, though, so the smell of stagnant beach kept wafting into the pool area and into the public areas of the resort. If you walked down to the beach, upwind from the construction, it was OK, but WHEW, the stank was something else. They tell me that this is a very rare occasion, so hopefully it will not be that way on YOUR trip to the Keys. The wait-staff at the pool was a little slow, but not to the point I would complain. Spent the evening in town, and returned to, yet again, a fabulously clean room with chocolates on the pillows. The weekend was one to remember, and I highly suggest you take in this gem on Key West.
I'm rating the service at a 4, only because of the pool service. Otherwise, it was fabulous!

Room Tip: Ask for a loft - top floor!
