Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
Ranked #40 of 51 Hotels in Key West
Reviewed April 5, 2014

We just returned from the Casa Marina after staying for several days. We had a wonderful time. We quickly decided that staying away from the crowds of Duval Street and the marina was perfect. It was a quick walk to the restaurants and shops but we were able to return to the peace and quiet of this hotel with the amazing views. The pools and beach were amazing - we will definitely return to this location. The hotel was in the middle of some renovation work - carpet being replaced in the hallways - but that was a minor hassle to get around for a few days.

Stayed here for a few days for a winter getaway. Large resort which is laid out well. There is a separate adult pool which is nice. Pool service was good, and the poolside music was at the right volume ( not too loud). Nespressso in the rooms was a nice touch. The property was a bit beat up and was in desperate need of touching up. The service was good in places but overall did not rise to the level that should match this property. When an issue was brought to the attention of the managers, they responded correctly, but there appears to be a disconnect between what is supposed to happen and what does happen. If they figure that part out this can be a really exceptional place. Location is good, within walking or biking distance to most restaurants and sites.

My wife and I stay here when we visit Key West - it's the only place we stay. It has always given us the best memories and hence we never try anything else.

Service is always with a smile and very welcoming.
The pina coladas are fantastic!
The food is good, mind you we always eat in restaurants in town most of the time.
Rooms are nice.

Stayed for 3 nights. Nice quiet neighborhood, beachfront location. Property is terrific and laid out nicely. The resort was beautifully landscaped, with bell hop at front door to welcome guests, always helpful, lobby was beautifully decorated Price didn't adequately match the service or amenities. We had a king size balcony room overlooking the ocean, view was nice, room on small size, bathroom while a nice size, but with a poor layout; it had a small walk in shower and small vanity with little room to place toiletries. I guess the design was towards minimalist, because there was no warmth in the room furniture choices or decorations, very stark and felt inexpensive. Even the exterior entrance of room which opened onto a open air hallway that overlooked a courtyard and public room was very bland/functional. The room included a expresso coffee maker, which while nice (regular coffee would have been better choice), only included enough coffee for four cups (2 regular / 2 decaf) with only two personal creamers (good for only two cups). The hair dryer was in a cloth satchel, when hair dryer removed satchel had hair on it. Maid service was so-so, room got a quick once over, sand was still on floor after they finished, there were areas that were not cleaned at all. We did have an issue with a leaking air conditioner unit and maintenance took care of within minutes and were very professional. I really have an issue with paying daily room resort fees, especially when I'm already paying a resort room price, not a hotel room price and on top of that they don't offer complimentary self parking. So with the room price that they still manage to add on up to $50/day to an already expensive room. I've have stayed at other resorts where they offer complimentary coffee stations in the morning, here they have a little store where you are charged for it. Also newspapers were included, but they are not delivered to each room, the papers were located in the lobby and there was no guarantee that there would be any papers there. As for the self parking, we had no trouble parking on Reynolds Street, right outside of the resort, overnite for free - it was closer then the self parking lot.

Time here to celebrate my birthday with a few friends. Daniel at the beach made everyday fun and easy, chilled cucumbers are always refreshing, and keeping me in the shade at all times, very important. Food and drinks with the view make this a great spot.

Room Tip: 1st floor ocean view, great access

A charming hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the resort but within a 20+ minute walk to all of the activities. Beautiful vista when you walk out of the hotel to the man made beach. If you are seeking a little peace and quiet in this very active resort this may be the place. Nice well appointed rooms although the first room offered to us was ridiculously small. we were accomated and moved to a larger room.

As other reviewers have stated, some of the rooms need sprucing up. We had several rooms within our group and since they were all in the same building, they were very similar. The suites are not worth the upgrade unless you face the ocean. A balcony that faces another building is not desirable and we never used it. Bathrooms are on the small side, but with great water pressure. The walls between the rooms in the older building are very "thin". We could hear the couple next to us as if we were in the same room. One positive: new carpet was installed in the hallways while we were there, so they are making improvements. The resort itself is nicely situated and close for walking to Duval Street or taking a walk/run along the beach toward the airport. All water sports very accessible right on the beach. You must walk out on a pier to gain water access as the shoreline is rocky. Pools were well-maintained and drink/food service at the beach or poolside, was very nice, albeit pricey. The drinks are overpriced for the size, even for a Waldorf Astoria. Breakfast buffet very nice and fresh - one of the best. Concierge, front desk, bell captains, servers - all very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the ocean and ask for their quietest, recently updated.
