stayed for 10 days. Staff was outstanding, especially Elizabeth and Pa Jaree. FREE Shuttles went to and from downtown every hour. That was an outstanding bonus. You really don't need a vehicle unless you plan on leaving the Key West area. I do understand the complaints against the hotel parking fee, but it didn't affect my stay. The pool was very nice. If you don't like noise ask for a room not facing the pool. I will stay there again.

We went to Key West for our 20th . We requested champagne & strawberries in the room upon arrival. When we got to Key West I called from the Airport to confirm our rooms & the champagne. We were told everything was all set & that the shuttle would be right there. After waiting for 40 min. the shuttle finally showed up. We had paid for 2 rooms with King Size beds & a view - what we got was a room with 2 dbl beds & a view of a metal roof next door. Flowers in our room & not champagne. I called down to the front desk & was told there was nothing they could do for us but they would come up & get the flowers! They finally came back with the champagne & strawberries after an hour but never once offered any type of credit or comp for the mix up. I called Expedia & they tried to talk to the GM but was told that we got what we got & that was it. The Fan & AC in our room was not working. We complained to the front desk 3 times & by the last day they finally sent someone up to fix the fan & look at the air conditioning. The Shuttle schedule said it dropped off in 2 locations but on the first night the shuttle driver said there was only 1 p/u up & d/o. Front Desk, Management & Concierge need serious help, maybe they should go back to school for Hospitality training. We will never stay at this Hotel or chain again. I am telling everyone I know about this horrible experience in hopes that they never stay there. Don’t stay at this hotel if you want a pleasant experience in Key West.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort. My major complaint is that it is very loud, our room faced the pool & there were people at the pool at all hours of the night partying & screaming, two of the three nights of our stay there were weddings with the music so loud we could not get any sleep, we had a two year old with us & the last night we had to get up at 4:00 in the morning & we did not get any sleep. The room was too small & the parking fee was a little ridiculous. I would not stay here again.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon road trip. April is a good time to go to Key West we found if you avoid the spring breakers.

The hotel location is a little out of town. As soon as you drive off US1 onto Key West - take a left and you are there. The town however is about 2 miles round from there. So location isn't THAT good.

The hotel itself has a parking charge which is a little annoying. Being part of the Hilton Honors points scheme we did get a free cookie though! *woo*

Staff were friendly and pretty spot on. The room was average - really wasn't anything special. I don't think there are a lot of nice views to be had, we got a pool facing room. It was very large and had a hot tub etc but looked a little dated.

I would stay here again (if I get a better price) but location, the parking fee and an average room knocked points off this one for us.

My husband and I, our son and his fiancee visited Key West for a wedding the end of March and first part of April. I had read previous reviews of this hotel AFTER I made the hotel reservatons. I was nervous about any 'sitings' of bed bugs. I am happy to say that no one in our party or friends who traveled with us experienced any problem.
The hotel was good. Clean, modern rooms; however the rugs could have been shampooed. The pool area was attractive and the sun never stopped shining. It was great!

The food was just okay. The breakfast buffet was really good with alot of choices. Good price, too! Some of the lunch entrees were good; others not so good. We visited for 6 days and didn't eat most of our meals there but enough to say that if you're tired and lazy and don't want to venture forth into Key West for food then the hotel's food is adequate.

I would stay here again but it is far from downtown Key West. We were lucky to have rented a car. Beware! of car park gouging! It was easy $20-30 to park each time we went to Key West. But the shuttle wasn't a good way for us either.

Doubletree Grand Key Resort isn't a bad hotel, but it doesn't deserve a 3.5 star rating based on our experience. The rooms were mostly clean and fairly comfortable but:

* The thermostat in our room didn't work meaning the AC either ran continously or not at all.

* The room was half-painted. It looked like someone started repainting the room a slightly different color and stopped partway through the job.

* The vanity sink faucet was missing it's internal screen and so water sprayed out sideways wetting your clothes every time you used it.

* Significant rust around the bathroom doorframe.

* Lightbulb burned out in entryway.

* Drips of dried blood smeared on wall below toilet paper holder.

* Ceiling fan apparently not working.

* View out of room was a tin roof that reflected sunlight into our room.

* The Expedia virtual tour map/diagram is very misleading regarding the beach. It's 300 yards from the property and across a busy four-lane highway, not right outside the hotel.

* The hotel charges $10 per day for parking, which is the normal rate for areas near the historic downtown area of Key West. Most parking in the area of the hotel is free.

We only stayed at the Doubletree for one night in March and would have really liked to have stayed there longer. The staff was very friendly, the standard rooms are large, nicely furnished and very clean. We used the shuttle to return from town and we were very satisfied with the service. We also had breakfast at the Doubletree which was extremely good (various fruit, bagels, assorted bakery). As another reviewer said, cold breakfast is absolutely sufficient. We'd definitely stay there again.
